Getting to go to Harvard because through luck of birth you were born to an alumni.
Getting the best hotel room or best table based on who you are, while bumping someone who already has a reservation.
Getting away with high crimes including murder because you have enough money to purchase your innocent verdict, and that's only if you get even charged for the crime, which, because of who you are is unlikely.
Evading taxes legally, because by golly you are rich enough to evade taxes legally.
Getting a promotion because of who you know, not how you work.

It's sick, and I mean sick to call Social Security and Medicare an entitlement.

True. There are all kinds of entitlements. At least with SS & Medicare, we have PAID for it. Honeycombe8 Apr 2013 #4

Definition of ENTITLEMENT

1
a : the state or condition of being entitled : right
b : a right to benefits specified especially by law or contract

Getting to go to Harvard or getting a good hotel room or the best table (Does this really happen to you?) are not in any way entitlements. Some people may feel that they are entitled to them but that is different.

Social Security is most definitely and Entitlement. You and me are guaranteed by law to get it. That's why we're trying to tell the Pres "Don't f**k with it.

I've been working for decades and have paid taxes for Social Security & Medicare. So, yes, I'm entitled to get back what I've been paying in for those programs, based on a DEAL the govt made with me.
