Let me get this straight...

FEMEN protests in support of another FEMEN protester in Tunisia, whose death has been called for by Islamic religious leaders simply because she criticized their belief system (which treats her like cattle).

Certain Muslim women react to this protest with a counterprotest over.... what? FEMEN did not call for controlling what they could wear. The only thing I can see that the Muslim women were counterprotesting over was valid criticism of Islam, and they didn't like that one bit. In other words, they are counterprotesting relevant criticism of Islam by attacking strawmen and even through portraying the criticism as "imperialist".

There is a term for this. It's called carrying water, which is what these Muslim counterprotesters were doing for their religion, which is all so predictable. They're doing so by using ad hom attacks and strawmen while tellingly never adressing the criticism itself (you know, the fact that their religion is deeply sexist, in its text, in its many interpretations, etc.). As if FEMEN said it speaks for Muslim women who don't like their religion being criticized.

These Muslim women are suffering from some serious bouts of privilege. You see, they're so used to light, moderate criticism of their culture and society that calls for the stoning of women like Amina, BUT NOT their religion, because, well, it's religion, it's off limits motherfuckers, unless you want to be a bigot or an imperialist. I mean really, who criticizes a belief system? That's like criticizing someone for having brown skin! Yes, these Muslim women have incredibly thin skin when it comes to criticism of Islam, because they expect their religious beliefs to get preferential treatment, to get privileged status. Well fuck that.

Hey! Anyone offended by FEMEN protesting religion! It's OK to criticize religion! Really! It's fine! It's a belief system, a philosophy, an ideology of sorts, just as open to criticism as conservative ideas that are eviscerated here every day!
