Why?

So Obama led with a "compromise" budget that he knew the GOP would reject.

So, what has the result been?

The GOP rejected it in order to protect the 1%. Progressives spoke out against it because they felt it "hurt" Seniors, Vets, and the 99%.

Polls have been showing an increase in the people who believe that DEMs look out for them and Repubs look out for the rich.

Now we have even more evidence. DEMS look like they are willing to compromise and seek solutions. Repubs just look more like the obstructionists that they are.

We stand in better shape to re-take the House.

Could Obama have known this?

but he couldn't have been 100% certain. He was gambling with the lives of the poor.

and Repubs accepted it, Dems would have still squashed it.

Also, claiming it was playing with "poor peoples lives" is a HUGE exaggeration.
