Daddy is gambling with the Rent Money again.

Last edited Sat Apr 6, 2013, 12:19 PM - Edit history (1)

You know what always happens when Daddy gambles with the Rent Money?
Sooner or later, we lose our house and wind up sleeping on the street.
It is inevitable.
Nobody WINS forever.
"Well, it was a good run while it lasted!"

It doesn't matter how GOOD a gambler President Obama is.
Even Bobby Fischer lost at Chess occasionally.
If President Obama keeps pushing Social Security into the pot,
sooner or later, it won't come back,
and THEN, it will be gone forever.
Sooner or Later.
This President or the next.

There is also the collateral damage.
Not so long ago, Social Security was the inviolate 3rd Rail of Politics,
Touch It and you DIE!!!!.
Thanks to President Obama, this TABOO has been lifted.
No Republican could have lifted the TABOO on publicly calling for cuts to Social Security.
Social Security has NOW been diminished to just another chip on the table in the Big Game of MORE profits for the already RICH.

Social Security will NOW be On-the-Table in every future budget "Negotiation" until it is gone.
The precedent HAS been established.
This deflowered virgin can't be unscrewed.
"Well, it was a good run while it lasted!"

on reading their minds. I want to hear their opinions stated clearly. On on issue as important as SS, the VP most definitely should be upfront about his opinons. This is not like asking someone to take any risk, politically. SS is a cornerstone of the Dem Party, one of the most popular and successful, life-saving programs ever. If the President is straying from Democratic values, then yes, the VP either should speak to him privately, tell him 'I cannot go along with this' and then, if that fails, stand up for the people. So he may lose his job, we need to know if defending SS would lose him his job, but if that were to happen, he would be almost a shoe-in for President certainly among Democrats.

But so far I have heard nothing from him regarding this whole debacle. To be a good leader, you have to have courage. Staying quiet and/or supporting bad policies does not tell me that someone has courage.

Obama Aides Defend Bank’s Pay to Biden Son

During the years that Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. was helping the credit card industry win passage of a law making it harder for consumers to file for bankruptcy protection, his son had a consulting agreement that lasted five years with one of the largest companies pushing for the changes, aides to Senator Barack Obama’s presidential campaign acknowledged Sunday.

At Fri Apr 5, 2013, 05:18 PM an alert was sent on the following post:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10022622131

REASON FOR ALERT:

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate. (See Community Standards.)

ALERTER'S COMMENTS:

I don't know about you, but where I come from, "gambling with the rent money" is a racist statement. These kinds of racial stereotypes should not be permitted on DU.

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Fri Apr 5, 2013, 05:30 PM, and the Jury voted 0-6 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: You need to get out more.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: HOGWASH! I don't know where the alerter comes from, but it doesn't matter where he is from, he is making up stuff. Another frivolous alert, wasting people's time.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: What? Gambling isn't a problem with only one racial group. Some people leave a pile, but this is an entire dump truck full of manure!
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: What silly horsehockey-of-an-alert.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: As it turns out you can DUrec a thread while reviewing it as a juror.

And, no, there's nothing racist about it, it cuts across all races.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

Thank You.

Not defense, not wars, not handouts to mega-corps... social security. So far as I can tell he has fought harder to cut social security than any other policy proposal he has ever made. He's not fighting for single payer, he's not fighting to close GITMO, he's not fighting to jail bankers, he's not fighting to raise the minimum wage, he's not fighting for a real infrastructure stimulus bill, he's fighting to destroy social security.

As stated in the OP, "This deflowered virgin can't be unscrewed."

Thanks for the post, ProSense.

Or is that carrying the analogy too far?

Personally, I think it fits.

..but it DOES look like the Old Blue Dog is going to have to surrender his title as the "Best Republican President EVER".
He isn't going to be happy with 2nd Place.
I think that is why he came out of retirement and helped Blanche Lincoln win the Democratic Primary against an actual pro-LABOR Democrat in 2010.

I'm ALL Fired Up for the only 2008 candidate who was MORE conservative than Obama.
How about you?

I am finished with him and all of the losers who continue to worship his republican agenda.

Your credibility is not established with that. The rest suggests that you have an agenda. I was warned about the anti-Obama stuff on this site.

I wonder why my Spell Check didn't catch that.

Anyway, all better now.

I'll bet you can go back and figure out who I'm referencing now that the typo is fixed.
If not try Google.
It works even if you type in "Booby Fischer".

Glad I can be on some help to you,
and sorry for making things so difficult for you with that typo.

We want to protect and expand the New Deal and Great Society.

If that's anti-Obama then so be it.

...and be a part of Paul's campaign in 2002 before he was killed.
We must have been neighbors.

My Wife & I lived on houseboats in a small bohemian houseboat community on the Mississippi River at St Paul below the abandoned power plant off Shepard Road.
Gawd, we loved it there.

Then the "developers" moved in in 2003 and decided that Condominiums belonged there instead of us.
That was the end of THAT.
So sad.

Say "HI" to your daughter for me,
and tell her to "Keep the Faith".
Things look dark for traditional mainstream FDR/Wellstone Working ClassDemocrats these days. The White House won't even take our calls.
