Obama: I will not make cuts to Social Security (w/ video)

by CitizenOfEarth

In this Youtube video, Obama boldly silences critics who say he is going to make a dirty deal with Republicans to make cuts to Social Security.

I for one, look forward to Obama living up to his promise. He said these words to reassure me that a vote for him would be a vote for the continuation of the New Deal, not its demise. I believed him. I voted for him. Now it's his turn.

H/T to Senator Bernie Sanders for tweeting this video that settles the controversy once and for all.

from what Obama thinks that means - after all, Pelosi and Obama's press secretary (I think) have said that chained CPI is a GOOD thing and would "strengthen" Social Security.
Kind of telling that strengthening Social Security by raising the cap has never been floated by the White House.
We have been Overton Windowed up the kazoo, methinks.

video this week?
I'll feel it is settled after the dust clears and sequestration is a thing of the past.
I want to be a happy clappy Obama supporter but 67 years on this earth have taught me not to count chickens before they are hatched.

If that definition does not include a reduction in growth, then Chained CPI isn't a cut. Paradox resolved!

to desperately want chained CPI. He has brought it up over and over. I remember him once calling it a 'tweak'.
The main thing is it is a cut to benefits and he can't/won't own up to it. It makes me feel that he thinks we are all dumb and will just meekly accept his proposal. If that is the case he's being deceitful.

[Update: 2:05 PM Since this diary somehow got on the Rec List, I should disclose: I do believe Obama IS planning to make SS and Medicare cuts. This video clearly shows Obama did a bait and switch on people who voted for him. So yeah, I'm pissed.]
