The War on the Center-Left has to Stop
The center-left contains the informed consensus on just about everything.
Get a legitimate panel of experts together on just about any topic and they will offer the center-left view.
A panel of politicians (including Democratic politicians) will offer the center-right view, or the center view if we're lucky.
And that panel will also hold the center-left view (our best overall sense of reality in policy) to be radical, extreme and unrealistic.
All the "pragmatists" who defend the center-right view against right answers are, to paraphrase Orwell, objectively right-wing.
And it is not just that they are wrong... they are nasty wrong. They do not merely reject right answers. They roll their eyes at right answers. They mock right answers and condescend to people who offer right answers.
They want to be secure in the middle of the herd and rationalize their cowardice as common sense.
And the middle of the herd is center-right... the land of dumb, counter-productive, self-congratulatory ignorance and compromises akin to splitting the difference between geocentrism and heliocentrism by announcing that the sun doesn't rise or set at all.
