into thinking he'd never ever consider putting SS on the table. It looks like the alleged ODS-sufferers and BHO-haters got it right on that one, assuming the ink is dry on his budget now. For a guy who asked that we keep his feet to the fire, he sure did inspire some of his supporters to fight some of us doing that with "tooth and nail", didn't he?
It includes a cut to Social Security benefits "chained C.P.I.," which would change how benefit increases are indexed such that they would grow more slowly in most circumstances that is regarded as anathema to Obama's progressive base.http://nbcpolitics.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/04/05/17614735-obama-budget-to-include-cuts-in-entitlement-programs?lite&ocid=msnhp&pos=2
Personally I think the cart was put a bit ahead of the horse on this one. Wouldn't an announcement that he's gonna approve the Keystone pipleline too before this announcement have been appropriate?
And what's with all the hinting? Is he trying to avoid disappointment overload on the part of too many?

I'm sure of course though, that you're not a rightwingnut and that your intent was positive and totally supportive

Much like anticipating that those who disagree with one's premise are merely dupes, rather than allowing for any other possibilities. I do see the conveniences and simplistic ease in that too...
However, I have no doubt that in real life, you don't hold yourself to a lower ethical standard than you hold others.
stupidicus
(2,570 posts)I made the very narrow case regarding a nic selection based on the predictability of rightwingnuts.
your efforts to widen that into areas outside of that with things that are tangetial at best, but that don't undermine the central point in any way, is also a common rightwingnut tactic.
If those of us that expressed concerns and criticized what we thought was a clear intent on the part of BHO to put such "on the table" makes us ODS-sufferers and Obama-haters -- the "premise" I've yet to see you criticize, but have an opportunity to here in this thread -- then surely the much less insulting "dupes" designation is tolerable and unworthy of such scorn that it seems to have generated in you.
My comment "in anticipation of their need for an easy out..." has nothing to do with any of the rest of this, and is applicable solely/only to those who'd make my nic the subject, as opposed to what I posted.
stupidicus
(2,570 posts)given the level of disappointment I've shared with many here over this issue, going way back before the election.
Maybe some of those dupes I referred to got a dose of it finally too

(12,504 posts)are starting so many hate Obama threads? And then respond on their own OP's with increasingly deragatory remarks. And why so many of them are slapping each other on the back of the head in some sort of strange congratulatory praise?
It just seems weird lately........or maybe not?
stupidicus
(2,570 posts)like criticising him over things like SS or Keystone can be explained ONLY by the existence of some mindless and burning hate. If that's the case, there sure are gonna be a lot of BHO-haters before this is through, no?
that's the same kinda BS the Bushbots use to use to explain the criticisms of him.
and actually, I've been reading this board for almost a decade now, and only started participating last year pretty much because of these issues.
ANd that's odd, because most of the derogatory remarks seem to come first from the "you're an Obama-hater" crowd, who then whine when they get a little pushback
please continue

(2,570 posts)the baseless, hollow declaration is also a tactic in widespread use by rightwingnuts as well.
There really is a great deal many things of this sort they don't have a monopoly on.

(12,504 posts)...and yet you continue.
Perhpas you could point me to several or consistent posts....the earlier in your tenure the better, where you were once upon a time an actual supporter?
stupidicus
(2,570 posts)there's nothing wrong with the title -- anyone that vehemently denied that BHO ever put such "on the table" prior to now, and particularly those who've gone outta their way with name-calling, etc in an effort to silence the concerns over or criticisms of it, are particularly guilty of the charge.
I have no duty to search my posts to accommodate such a request, and particularly from the likes of you. It's not my fault so many around here seem to lack the intellectual heft or integrity, or lack the mental acuity, to resolve criticisms and otherwise supporting into the two separate and distinct things that they assuredly are.
look it up yourself
Sheepshank
(12,504 posts)of course you won't search your own threads....there's is nothing you can find that fits a pro Dem Agenda, much less a Pro Obama statment. I honestly didn't expect anything.

You label yourself an intellectual by default...ok, that now is hillarious.

And, then they do what the hell they want anyway.
I'm done. There's simply no reason to fight to vote, deal with Republicans trying to take away my vote, stand in horrendous lines, be attacked when I ask for a DEM ballot in Republican hell, just to have my own party betray me over and over.
I'm finished.
Blue dogs can thank me now for staying home in 2014. I'm not going to bother voting, nor will I cajole my family into going to the polls.
Let's see the Blue Dogs win an election without Progressives.

(692 posts)Americans now have the government that we deserve (not all of us, but the majority)! Most people are too friggin lazy, stupid, and ignorant! They don't give a shit about what's happening; if they did, they'd be out in the streets...by the millions! They'd be calling their Congressmen/women, their Senators, the White House, LTTE, etc, but instead, they're watching DWTS, American Idol, Lockup, Duck Dynasty, Honey Boo Boo, etc.
I'm tired of nobody else giving a shit!

(20,729 posts)forgot to mention it before Election Day.
During the recent campaign, President Obama claimed credit for increasing funding to the Pell Grant program, which provides college funds, free from repayment, to millions of students. However, an email sent out Tuesday to some Dallas college students is revealing a detail the President forgot to mention: the time a student can receive a Pell Grant has been cut, by as much as three years. With Pell Grants for the fall semester now dispersed, colleges are informing students of their options, bringing the cuts to light.
The email, sent out by the Dallas County Community College District, informed students of the changes to the Pell Grant program. It revealed that the number of semesters a student could receive a Pell Grant had been cut from 18 semesters down to 12. It is a detail likely unknown to most students; in fact, the cut in grants has gone largely unreported by the media.

Ramped up hostility towards Iran & N. Korea? Check.
On all of these things (save the last one, probably) he has been widely & loudly 'advised' by those who voted for, campaigned for, or funded him ... and many in the Dem Senate ... what it is the PEOPLE WANT and yet he's acting like he's not heard a peep.
