Look...I said..I realize that many of us are Demoralized and Not Likely to Sign Petitions or Call the White House...but I posted this because those who ARE NOT...might want to give their VOICE to Stopping the LAST of the FDR LEGISLATION for DEMOCRATS/LABOR/RIGHTS OF WORKERS.
Look at the few replies to this Post! WHERE IS THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY that I VOTE FOR DECADE AFTER DECADE! PATHETIC.
At least try to support Senator Brown's Petition that he will read before the US SENATe if you can't support anything ELSE that DEMOCRATS DO...while you tell the REST OF US TO BE "GOOD DEMOCRATS!:
What the Heck is DU ABOUT...if we don't SUPPORT DEM ACTIONS?

Thank you for signing and doing what you can...believe me I wasn't crticizing those who do this...since I do so few anymore (after YEARS of Signing Everything and seeing little difference) but. that this was the "LAST STAND."
Thank you...I know from reading your posts that you are working hard...so thanks for your reply and for bothering to reply when so many others don't.

Thank you for your passion.

(84,711 posts)it's worth it to let THEM KNOW...we are STILL OUT HERE...
I know that I sound contradictory...but, there are many conflicted DEMS out here....so this last one I thought was worth a post about and was sorry to see it just float off to Archives when there's still work to do...yes...conflicted...but ONE LAST TIME unless Dems do something ELSE like NUKING into Oblivion Some Sovereign Countries..to SHOW THEY ARE TOUGH going forward which would take MASSIVE OPPOSITION...in the STREETS instead of PETITIONS to SIGN.

(2,004 posts)It has been a rough day. We were dealing with a plugged septic tank most of the day. Yuck! Got it pumped out. Got the sewer lines unplugged, finally. Rural living does have some serious downsides.
Did get the petition signed this evening.
Thanks for the link.

(84,711 posts)we have to have a plumbing crew come in and cut holes all over our house to replace the "grey pipe" and another crew has to come in and patch the Sheet Rock and then Painters need to come. We can Paint but we can't patch the holes ourselves since we both work....
And...the leak was over my Computer Desk. Two Big Carved out holes in the sheetrock above my head as I type...and I thought that the "Spirits" were trying to TELL ME SOMETHING! LOL's. It was a Mess! And more MESS to come. I don't even want to think about it.
So...I understand where you're coming from...

(84,711 posts)and hoped I could get 500 or more signatures if I posted here....
Thanks for the signing. This needs to be a huge push to save SS/Medicare from the Repug..Hounds of Hell. And there are some Democrats who can't wait to see "REFORMS" (as they call them).

(12,253 posts)It seems that out of 150,000+ Democrats here that 500 should be an easy goal to reach.

(17,009 posts)IMHO DU has never been particularly into grassroots activism. That's been my experience, and I think the tendency is getting worse. I've been very frustrated by the lack of coverage of this issue (SS/Medicare) on the liberal network MSNBC. It's scary, and is starting to feel like the fix is in.

(84,711 posts)way early on...and didn't check to see when you joined but, it did get less and less as we moved into "Election Dem Mode."
cui bono
(19,926 posts)Way too many people way too busy defending his every "chess" move and putting their head in the sand when he does things that no Dem should do. Flat out denying things even after they are shown proof. It sickens me to see people blindly defending the indefensible.
Worst thing is if this happens it will be on the Dems and the Cons will use it in future elections, well the worst thing is really that the people will suffer, but the suffering will get worse if Cons can use this to win elections. They will tell the people that the Dems cut SS and they will be right.

(84,711 posts)To Do One Last Push BACK to try to stop what the Repugs want to do.
If Obama says we need to "Push Him to do what's LEFT" ...then one last push should show us what he's about. Does he really want us to PUSH BACK or NOT? If we get discouraged ...what does that achieve for him in the next four years. We have to PUSH on this SS/MEDICAID CUT BACKS/Chained CPI!

(3,102 posts)I will never vote for any Democrat who wants to cut SS.

(39,343 posts)Signing petitions that never go anywhere is what some call Slactivism. You do a very insignificant something and you feel like you're marching against riot police with dogs and mace.
Petitions are a waste of time and do not accomplish anything.
Sorry.
KoKo
(84,711 posts)concern about petitions...but to save SS& Medicare from cuts is worth one last effort.
Also there are some DU'ers who cannot be "Out on the Streets" or going to "Meet Ups" or "Groups" for health or disability reasons and while signing "every petition that comes along" might not be very effective I think that Senator Brown's Petition he will do the Count of on the Senate floor is very worthwhile along with other Petitions to Save SS and Medicare at this time.
I understand what you say...but, sometimes the People's Voices need to be heard in ANY WAY they can BE HEARD. Calling the WHITE HOUSE is the BEST...but, for many signing a Petition called for by a Dem Senator is worth the effort.

(4,982 posts)the White House or reps, I get the same old complacency:
"ohhh it won't do any good."
"petitions don't work"
yadda yadda.
No matter what's at stake, most people don't want to do anything. Then they whine because Washington doesn't hear our voices. Of course they don't hear our voices WHEN. WE. DON'T. USE. THEM. Of course we don't always win. Most of the time, we don't. But we will NEVER win if we NEVER try!
Hell fire, Washington COULD be BURIED in emails and petitions and their stinking phone lines burning holes through the floor IF WE WANTED TO DO IT.
But too many people sit and whine: "petitions don't work", and "it won't do any good".
It's why I wrote this:
http://www.sevenbowie.com/2013/03/why-are-people-so-apathetic/
Jesus Christmas. When will people realize that our VOICES are a big part of our power! But we ALL have to holler at once to be heard! One. Big. Un-ignorable. VOICE. That's how it's done, when it's done.
Even THEN it doesn't always work.
But does that mean we should never even TRY?
Guess so....
KoKo
(84,711 posts)I've been a downer about Petitions lately..not seeing any success... except for this one I'm urging folks to sign from Senator Brown..but you have nudged me to think that maybe I should resist my defeatism. And, I thank you for that. After all Petition Signing is a way for those who don't have a way to be Active to participate...and it's important for them to hear about Activist Petitions since not all of us are on the Internet 24/7 with Cell and Tablet...and many aren't signed up to get the E-Mail alerts from groups. So...good point you make..

I want a word with Danny Glover and the others who said I should vote for this sad excuse for a Democrat President even though he is only slightly less terrible than the GOP candidates.
