(10,942 posts)I wonder how many of the people in that picture voted for Ralph Nader in 2000. Once a person is elected President, and George W Bush was elected President by 97,000 Nader voters in Florida and Nader voters in New Hampshire, that person is MY President, whether I like that or not.

Ghost in the Machine
(14,912 posts)George W Bush* was never elected by anyone. In an unheard of move, the SCOTUS stepped in, stopped an official recount, and SELECTED that idiot. I voted for Gore, and Little Georgie certainly never was MY President by any means.

(15,189 posts)So the Ralph Nader voters didn't screw it up, it was stolen from us. What they should have done was disqualify Florida since the woman in charge of the recount worked for Bush, and his brother was governor. Stealing the election was step one is seeing if they could get away with what they had planned for us. Since there was no rioting, they decided to steal EVERYTHING.

The general topic of wildly partisan Supreme Court rulings is on everybodys mind right now for some reason. The Washington Examiners Tim Carney wants everybody to know that the Supreme Court really, truly did not hand the presidential election to George W. Bush. You can disagree with the ruling in Bush v. Gore, writes Carney, but you cant honestly argue that it decided the election.
Well, yes, you can. In fact we know nearly for certain that the recount stopped by the Supreme Court would have given Gore the lead. (Of course, its entirely possible that the Republican-controlled Florida legislature would have simply overridden the results of the count and handed the state to Bush, as it threatened to do.) But Carney is repeating a common misconception.
The myth that Bush would have won had the recount proceeded dates back to a recount conducted by a consortium of newspapers that examined the ballots. The consortium found that If all the ballots had been reviewed under any of seven single standards, and combined with the results of an examination of overvotes, Mr. Gore would have won, by a very narrow margin. But the newspapers decided that this was not how the counties would have actually tabulated the votes. By the variable standards they would have used, the papers reported, Bush would have prevailed. Thus the national news reported a slew of headlines asserting that Bush would have prevailed.
The conclusion was erroneous. The newspapers assumed that the counties would only have looked at undervotes ballots that did not register any votes for president and ignored overvotes ballots that registered more than one vote for president. An overvote would be a ballot in which the machine mistakenly picked up a second vote for president, or in which a voter both marked a box and wrote in the name of the same candidate. A hand recount in which an examiner is judging the intent of the voter would turn those ballots that were originally discarded into countable votes.

(20,317 posts)Whenever I see someone make the erroneous assertion you made there, I have to wonder why they're so anxious to believe that nonsense. The only thing I can I figure is that they hate the people to their left more than they oppose the people on their right.

(11,076 posts)hence the words, 'he's not my President'. Straight and simple, the man was not elected.
This is probably a picture from the anti - surge demonstration where there were over 500,000 folks in attendance. Cspan broadcast the demonstration for an hour while the rest of the media ignored it. The coverage was over before we were even on the bus home.

Ghost in the Machine
(14,912 posts)It's anti-war protesters with mock coffins of our soldiers who gave their lives, paid the ultimate price, in Little Georgies illegal war for oil. Little Georgie blocked news crews from showing the coffins returning home, which no one had ever done before. He didn't want us to see the true cost of his little war...
That's hardly an editorial. Why is it, specifically, you posted it? Do you have a problem with it? Wish to commend the protesters?

It's like they don't really even care enough to make the effort.
I suppose it has much to do with having their side being in a state of total collapse, disarray, Balkanization, and with an incipient civil war within the ranks brewing just below the surface, the memos are just not getting out anymore.
Hard to rally the troops if you're not sure which of them will shoot you in the back.

Thanks for posting. I love the reminder of how many people tried to bring Bush's lies and crimes into the awareness of the sleeping sheep who supported him (but will no longer speak his name or even claim to be republican in many cases).
