Three steps forward, and two steps back

still equals one step forward.

I know that many people get frustrated by having to take the 2 steps back, but that is Normal, that is Natural.

True change takes TIME. I appreciate that some people want change NOW! But it takes time.

True change takes TIME. I appreciate that some people want what they want NOW! But it takes time.

True change takes TIME. I appreciate that some people think they know all the answers! But it takes time.

I am a Liberal. I am a Progressive. I have a Liberal vision for this Country. But I expect it to take TIME to actually do some good. For this, I have been called "names".

A trait of a true Liberal is that they don't pigeon-hole other people or pre-judge them. Are you really a Liberal, or are you pretending to be one?

A true Liberal doesn't apply "litmus tests" to others. Do I not fit into your definition of Liberal, which means I don't fit your litmus test?

I support PBO in most things. Some people apply their litmus test to me because of this and claim that I am not "Liberal" enough to join their club. They don't care about what I have to say or my opinion on anything - they automatically assume that I am a member of a "cult of personality" and dismiss me and my opinions.

Those are the truly close-minded people. I would love to have an open discussion with them, but they are so close-minded they refuse to listen.

They are no better than the RW that they openly denigrate. In a sense, they are the same.

I pity them.

3. I don't care what others believe or vote. I don't tell anybody what to do or how to vote.

I believe every person's vote is sacred and personal and should not be influenced. And I feel the same way about my vote. I don't let anybody else influence my vote either. Personally, I believe that politicians especially these days are motivated by money and not by a desire to represent the people. Therefore, it takes a large number of people actually yelling and screaming at the top of their lungs and threatening to vote for the other side to get any politician to listen to the people these days. Look at what happened when the seniors threw a fit over Social Security during the fiscal cliff. Politicians listened. My fight is education. For years now democrats have been ignoring education. We here in WA have a perfect opportunity to put the politicians' feet to the fire because our state supreme court just ruled that our state is in violation of its duty to put k-12 education at the top of the state's budget priority. This is the perfect opportunity for us in WA to tell our legislators they can't hide anymore. They cannot ignore us anymore. Either they fund education or they lose their jobs. Other than forming our own lobbies and buying politicians ourselves gathering in large numbers and screaming at the politicians is the best option we have. Unfortunately, most of the time they do ignore us even if we do gather and scream.

6. it takes a massive wave of momentum. That's why some things like gay marriage

and even marijuana legalisation are moving forward while others don't. That's why we have to make noise, to get the momentum going. I'm making as much noise as I can for education hoping to get some momentum going.

'This "Wait" has almost always meant "Never." We must come to see, with one of our distinguished jurists, that "justice too long delayed is justice denied.'

If we were facing the right direction, I'd agree with you. But we're not. Of course you can disagree and I don't mind. Not here to argue or bring you down. I wish I could see things the way you do.

7. Problems arise when the step count isn't agreed upon, nor direction, nor the distance of the steps

I also don't get where you haven't possibly self negotiated yourself into a privileged position. Like a lot of folks you're pretty convinced you are right and see the "true path".

Priorities vary a lot too and some that may diverge from yours may not be addressed even tolerably at times, while much better progress is had in areas others or even the very definitions of positive outcomes and progress could be at odds.

Everyone may not agree on what is and isn't a good deal and when such becomes a moving target, bad blood is probable.

Everything breaks down when folks aren't honest about their agenda and fairs little better without one in a finger in the air mode.

That we all can't always agree or see things the same way is OK, what isn't so cool is the preaching, condescending, blind hypocrisy baked into your cake while believing it. Especially if you're going to get defensive and pissy about it too.
