I post in Fiction a lot, and happened to come across an author who writes about Korea. James Church is his pseudonym and he is a former US Intelligence Agent.

All his books are listed above, and they are confusing to read because the government is confused and confusing. Everyone is paranoid, but they are very human.
I hope Hagel is able to stop whatever might happen, and it will happen because the people are hungry and the government doesn't trust anyone. He told Korea today in a broadcast that our envoy is ready to visit them if they give some signal. Go Chucky...
The books are very current and I have some hope from having learned more about the country and its attitudes that peace will come. Delicate diplomacy needed.

(10,044 posts)I got mine from the library - they should have them all. It's good to start with the first one.
It is not a happy ending book, nor is it without hope. They've been run over by other countries who treated them badly. Many have relatives in the South.
I do so hope Hagel and Obama can do something. Soft touch needed with a lot of sincerety. The big stick won't work in this case because I think they think they have nothing to lose. At least it's not a religious war - they don't seem to like any religions.
Don't feel bad if it's hard to follow. It's hard to live there.

Then the Church books really make sense and are much more enjoyable.
