It's been reported he was a Bulls fan. Well the Bull is about to hit the damn fan. Nothing is really being said about China or what their response would be if Kim started a conflict and the US retaliated. I think there is more to this than just a case of Kim getting his pants in a wad. The UN sanctions and isolation has taken it's toll but for North Korea to take the action of cutting off financial ties to South Korea with the blocking of the employees at the border from their jobs has to be the tip of the iceberg.
I recall several years ago of a North Korean ship being stopped and suspected of carrying supplies to terrorists.
Also anyone here remember the USS Pueblo in 1968? It's still held by North Korea today and officially remains a commissioned vessel of the United States Navy. It was moored along the Taedong River in Pyongyang, and used there as a museum ship. Pueblo is the only ship of the U.S. Navy currently being held captive.

(25,168 posts)1. Has anyone followed-up and talked with Rodman since this new round of threats by NK? I'm wondering what Rodman thinks is going on and why this happened after - in Rodman's estimation - that Kim would like to talk with President Obama and that perhaps things could turn around there.
2. Does Kim really run that country or is he just a figure head for the military? If so - perhaps - either he is trying to save face in their eyes (the military) - after Rodman said that Kim and Obama should talk. Or perhaps the military - if they are really running the country are pissed that Kim was so inclined to want to talk with Obama.
3. Maybe Kim was pissed that President Obama blew him off and didn't take it seriously and give him a call.
I guess I'm not so critical of Rodman and his visit and the friendship it looked like he struck up with Kim. You never know what could be a turning point in a relationship and what could get people to a table to talk. If it takes a Dennis Rodman and basketball - or a direct call by the President - then so be it.
