919-733-5811. Call NC Governor to "oppose" NC State Religion / Constitution Not Applying to NC.

Pick up the phone. If you aren't pissed off, you aren't paying attention.

Two GOP NC Representatives have submitted a bill stating

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/03/north-carolina-religion-bill_n_3003401.html

North Carolina May Declare Official State Religion Under New Bill

The bill reads:

SECTION 1. The North Carolina General Assembly asserts that the Constitution of the United States of America does not prohibit states or their subsidiaries from making laws respecting an establishment of religion.

SECTION 2. The North Carolina General Assembly does not recognize federal court rulings which prohibit and otherwise regulate the State of North Carolina, its public schools, or any political subdivisions of the State from making laws respecting an establishment of religion.

These numbskulls just wanted to "pray" before local meetings (supposedly), but they keep getting in trouble for that SINCE IT IS AGAINST THE LAW, but LET US PRETEND their "innocent" bill passes, and they are able to get away with PICKING AND CHOOSING WHAT PORTIONS OF THE CONSTITUTION APPLY TO EACH STATE.

Pretend you don't care about "freedom of religion" or "freedom of speech" or being "free to assemble" or enjoy the benefits of FEDERAL meat inspectors when you buy your food.

Remember these "little" things?

Women Voting? That is in the Constitution, too.

No slavery? That is in the Constitution, too.

This might be a joke to some people. The civil war was 150 years ago, and SOME PEOPLE don't remember it. Anybody in your family die during it?

Didn't you think this was a "done deal" already?

Maybe not for these Treasonous Worms.

Get outraged NOW. Pick up the phone. BE PISSED. BE OUTRAGED.

If you cannot PASSIONATELY DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES APPLYING TO THE ENTIRE COUNTRY IN ONE PHONE CALL, QUIT PRETENDING TO BE A DEMOCRAT.

Now Call, Kick & RECOMMEND THIS THREAD.

The bill won't get out of whatever committee they have there. It's also not secessionist, it's nullification. Similarly flawed legal principal, but not the same thing.

Only we "grandstand" on the side of Truth, Justice and the American Way.

If the NC Democratic Party doesn't get a little bit of "grandstanding" out of this, they are morons.

I don't think they are morons.

But in the meantime, PICK UP THE PHONE and CALL.

some people likely dismissed that as "grandstanding". When the National Socialists first started Jew-bashing, some people dismissed that as grandstanding, too.

In both of those cases, the "relax, no big deal" attitude turned out to have cataclysmic repercussions. It is possible to be too relaxed.

I hope Rule 11 could be used against any lawyer trying to "defend" it. By second year of law school, you've had Con Law and know that a state can't abridge the rights of US citizens.

This one is unconstitutional on its face. It will not pass, and cannot stand. There's no point in contacting the Governor about this.

It's bluster on the part of a couple of Republicans. If it somehow gets passed, then call the Governor. Until then, there are other things worthy of people's attention.

This bill is bogus and cannot pass constitutional muster in any way.

proposed bills in that state's legislature. He plays no role in their fate unless they are actually passed.

All caps or not, this is not a serious concern. The bill will die in committee, because it is moronic and unconstitutional. The Governor's desk will never see the bill at all.

And this needs to be discussed at length until everyone associates GOP with ANTI-CONSTITUTION/PRO-SLAVERY/ANTI-FREEDOM/ETC.

They proposed it because they *believe* in it, therefore, they must be crushed, and should spend substantial time explaining why they think the Constitution of the United States really shouldn't apply to them, and which specific areas should be applied.

Do they think the "Free Speech" clause is good, or do they want to shut down everybody but Fox?

Do they like women having the right to vote, or is that a bad idea for them them?

What about slavery? Does that apply to North Carolina?

Are you not familiar with basic political strategy ala Lyndon Johnson?
