What the kids call "social networking," people used to call Visiting. Your whole family would go to someone's house at a certain time and talk over tea and little sandwiches with the crusts cut off. Visiting actually used to be a major pastime among all social classes. You dressed up to do it, you had a special room in your house (the "parlor&quot set aside for visiting, you even had calling cards engraved to show that you'd been there.
