(1,415 posts)the "right-wing" numbers include things like expanded refineries, more transport jobs to end markets, plastics manufacturers with cheaper supplies hiring more workers...
...so yeah, 140,000 people could end up employed. Just like how Apple says it created half a million jobs with the iPhone (manufacturing, distribution, app developers, even FedEx jobs and right on down the line).
Cornell looked at immediate construction and operating jobs, but unlike the scope of the report, nothing exists in a vacuum.
That said, I'm sure cleanup jobs are also counted...

(13,485 posts)a long time ago.. many months ago. How they can possibly still be using the TransCanada figures is far beyond me. Those TC figures have been trashed too long ago for the government to still be using them. There is definitely politics in play that trumps facts.

The Trans Alaska Pipeline didn't even produce that many jobs.
