Ed Schultz‘s show weekend show on MSNBC may not have a launch date yet, but now it has a lead-in. The cable network announced today that former Democratic National Committee spokesperson and frequent MSNBC guest host Karen Finney will host a new show to air weekends from 4-5pm ET.

“Karen’s rich background in both education policy and politics will add a unique point of view to our expanding live weekend programming,” said President of MSNBC Phil Griffin in a statement Tuesday. More details and an official launch date are scheduled to be announced in the coming weeks.

Looks more like they are shoving him out to make room for the sprouts.

Honestly, I am getting a bit weary of the sprouts except for Alex Wagner and Ari Melber.

The only MSNBC shows I watch now are Martin and Alex.

Most of Ed's staff has been reassigned to work on the new Chris Hayes Show. I've read that Ed would like to host the show out of Minneapolis so he doesn't have to travel each week from Fargo to New York...and that would require a new set of people and logistics. The good news is it means more jobs for producers, editors, writers and the other behind the scenes people who go into do a show...it takes time to put it all together. Ed still strongly maintains the choice to move to the weekends was his so he could cut down on all the wear and tear of traveling from his home to New York and maintain not only the TV show but his daily 3 hour radio talk show. If they had wanted to squeeze him out, they would have...this weekend show means adding to the network not subtracting...
