A text book example of just how screwed up our society's priorities are

Connecticut's infamous cross-dressing "meth priest," has agree to a plea bargain deal in which he will likely be sentenced to up to 14 years in prison.

Kevin Wallin, of Waterbury, admitted to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and was scheduled to be sentenced June 25. The agreed-upon sentence is 11 to 14 years. Prosecutors said the 61-year-old Wallin had meth mailed to him from co-conspirators in California and sold the drugs out of his Waterbury apartment last year. He sold nearly four pounds in all, prosecutors said. He also bought an adult video and sex toy shop in North Haven named Land of Oz & Dorothy's Place, apparently to launder the drug money, authorities said.

The Archdiocese of Bridgeport had suspended Wallin before his arrest. He had pleaded not guilty during his January arraignment at which time it was reported that he was still being paid by the Catholic Church. (Tipped by JMG reader Andrew)

Wearing only his underwear, last year Father Angel Armando Perez chased a 12 year-old Oregon boy down the street after pulling the sleeping child's pants down to take a cell phone photo. Yesterday Perez was sentenced to six years in prison.

The Rev. Angel Armando Perez, 47, pleaded guilty in Marion County Circuit Court to charges of first-degree sexual abuse, driving intoxicated and furnishing alcohol to a minor. Accusations of using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct and tampering with evidence were dismissed. He will serve six years and three months in prison for the sexual abuse charge, the mandatory minimum for that Measure 11 crime. He will serve the penalty for the other charges concurrently. Marion County Circuit Judge Courtland Geyer also ordered Perez to register as a sex offender. The boy told investigators that he was awakened by an apparent flash from a camera. He found his shorts and underwear at his knees and Perez next to him on an air mattress. The priest had the boy's genitals in one hand and a cell phone in the other, court documents said.

Perez claimed that he was so drunk that he has no memory of the incident. The victim's parents had given Perez permission for the boy to sleep at his house before a camping trip. The Archdiocese of Portland paid Perez' legal fees and says it has not yet decided on whether to fire him. Seriously. That's what the above-linked article fucking says. (Tipped by JMG reader Dale)

Now we have two priests who each decided to break the law. One deals crystal meth, to adults, and gets 11 years. The other molests a child and gets 6. So if you deal drugs you get almost twice as much time as you get for molesting a child. Really? Oh, and both priests are still currently employed and had their legal fees paid by the church. Must be nice.

the Meth Dealing Priest deserves no less than 20 years, because Meth is probably one of the worst drugs anyone can take and a dealer is going to push it on people including kids. The Pedo Priest deserves life at least.

I should not be stunned but I am a little taken aback. Two catholic priest, one sells meth and launders said revenue through a sex toy shop and the other molest little boys. The church paid their legal fees and has not fired them. And people wonder why belief in god has fallen and church attendance has fallen off even among believers....I don't.
