This just makes me furious.

Why should Dems be pulling this crap when we have been trying so hard to preserve voting rights in so many states? Dammit. Just plain stupid.

(CNN) - New York state Sen. Malcolm Smith and New York City Councilman Dan Halloran were arrested Tuesday morning on charges they schemed to fix the city's 2013 mayoral election through fraud and bribery, according to prosecutors.

The U.S. attorney's office in Manhattan alleges that Smith, a Democrat, bribed Halloran, a Republican, to help guarantee Smith a spot on the Republican ballot in the November election.....more

and would have now changed back to a repub to run again. Rather Smith never was a real Democrat. But of course this does sully our brand anyway. At least it's one of each and nullifies the damage a bit.
