Wyatt Erb couldnt look away when he and his wife spotted a dog clinging to life as they walked near a creek in north-east Pennsylvania, Saturday. The lab mix was tied to a rock while inside the rising water.
The leash was actually hooked to a stone in the ground, said Erb. Its not something the dog could have done by itself."
Erb quickly took action and went inside the Neshaminy Creek, in Bristol Township, north-east of Philadelphia, to get the dog out. Sergeant Thomas Gaffney of the Bristol Police Department believes the action saved the animals life.
She would have drowned more than likely if the water got high enough, said Gaffney.

Says she will be ready for adoption soon...probably between 8-11 and is old and was probably abused all her life...hopefully someone can give her a good final few years.

(13,459 posts)with every breath it takes. I hate people who abuse animals, hate them.
There should be a nation-wide animal abuser list and every time one of these monsters gets caught their hideous face is online for everyone to go look at, then if you know one of these shit piles you can shun them and make sure everyone around you knows what a complete waste of flesh they are.

(6,747 posts)Amazing what humans can do. If I lived in the area I would adopt her in a hot minute. I live in Las Vegas. Am taking one of my Goldens to the vet this afternoon. His left eye is running. My Murphy gets the best care in the world. I only wish all dogs were given the same love and concern.

(1,979 posts)I hope she can find an understanding, kind human provider.
For many of us, dogs and their unconditional love are one of the very few things we can take joy in this world.

(11,441 posts)I hope that poor dog lives out the rest of her days in luxury. Patrick the Pit Bull got a second chance at a good life:
Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Erb, for rescuing her.

(11,366 posts)Some DUers will be along shortly to kill your dog and then claim the DOG is the violent one - not the person who trained (or didn't train) it.
I, however, would love to pet Patrick. I have rescued five dogs myself - although not any pits. My neighbor and colleague does rescue pits and they're big ole babies.
Finally, this story infuriates me! People who do such things to animals should either have a special place in hell or should be sentenced to far longer jail time for their actions. Animals may be property, but unlike a car or a ring or money, they DO have feelings.

(11,441 posts)Plus the predictable "you-care-more-about-animals-than-people!" chorus. Yawn.
I've had cats and dogs, and they absolutely do have feelings. Look at this pitiful ol' gal:

I just hope the Bucks County SPCA screens the hell out of whomever adopts her. I'd love to, but I have two cats and a yard that isn't fenced in... imagine I wouldn't be a priority.

(13,459 posts)I was horrified at how he had been starved. Every time I see a picture of an abused dog or cat I think less of humanity. At this point it's getting hard to think less of humanity. I am starting to think we're a virus or something.
If there were any justice people who harm these innocent beings that share their lives with us would get more than a slap on the wrist for their crimes.

(56,177 posts)Police said they are still searching for her owner. If the dog's owner does have a history of animal abuse, that person could go to jail. However, if that individual does not, he or she wind up with only a fine, which Gaffney said he does not think is sufficient punishment.
