Powerball winner resolves $30k child support debt

PATERSON, N.J. (AP) — The New Jersey man who just won a $338 million Powerball jackpot has resolved a child support debt.

Pedro Quezada appeared Monday afternoon in state Superior Court in Paterson.

Authorities had said the 44-year-old Passaic resident owed about $29,000 in back support. During the court hearing, officials said Quezada had paid about $30,000 to settle the debt.

Quezada claimed a lump-sum payment last week worth $221 million, or about $152 million after taxes.

the 30k is simply writing a check but to prepare kids to get 50 million would take some legal work. I am willing to give him some time to get that in place.

This information was reported by the court. Unless he gave money to his children in that proceeding (far from the best way to handle it), we have no idea what he has or hasn't done regarding his children. He has no obligation to notify anyone regarding what is now his money. If I were him, my children would be set for life, and not a single soul (other than my accountant) would know.
