States bully women trying to obtain an abortion while pretending they are protecting

women from being bullied into having an abortion. This is one of things I despise most about the anti-choice fuckers: They're unceasing and naked hypocrisy.

Michigan abortion clinics will need a state license and must check to make sure women are not being bullied or pressured into getting an abortion under a new law that took effect Sunday.

Other regulations make clearer the proper disposal of fetal remains, after anti-abortion advocates expressed concern some were not disposed of with dignity.

Abortion opponents expect the Kansas Senate to approve a bill this week to block tax breaks for abortion providers and to bar them from participating in public school sex education classes.

The bill on the Senate's agenda Monday already has passed the House. Supporters hope senators won't make any changes so that a vote to pass it will send it to Republican Gov. Sam Brownback, who opposes abortion.

The Senate has a solid anti-abortion majority.

The bill would prevent abortion providers from claiming tax credits and exemptions available to other groups and health care providers. Also, a woman couldn't include abortion expenses if she deducts medical expenses from her income taxes.

The legislation also would prohibit abortion providers from providing materials or instructors for sex education classes in public schools.

One more step was taken against abortion in Kansas on Wednesday. House Bill 2254 asserts that life begins at fertilization and is poised to pass the state Senate quickly and be signed by Governor Sam Brownback . The bill would also change availability of sex education from abortion providers.

The bill, which passed in the House of Representatives with a vote of 92 to 31, states that “unborn children have interests in life, health and well-being that should be protected.” In addition to changing the state’s views on when life begins, this bill would also vastly decrease the reach of sex education in Kansas. This bill would prohibit organizations like Planned Parenthood from distributing materials on sex education in schools, as well as make any organization that gives abortions unable to give sex education classes.

<snip>

These new, strict, sweeping measures are no surprise in Kansas, as the state has been gradually cracking down on a woman’s right to choose, especially over the past two years. In that time, Kansas has passed a law requiring a parent's or guardian's written approval for all minors getting abortions, as well as tightening limits on late-term abortions. The state has also passed health and safety regulations for abortion providers that are currently being challenged in court.

This bill will most likely be passed by the state Senate, and quickly, while Governor Brownback has stated that he would sign any anti-abortion bill that he comes across.

It looks like the religious right is on the move again.

"Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them."

The right to choice a hollow constitutional right for millions of American women. There is a two tiered structure in place after years of successful legislative restrictions. For women in states like NY and Vermont, there is access and no burdensome regulations. For women in N.D, MS, AR, etc, there is little access and many hoops to jump through. For women with resources, abortion is available. For women without financial resources in many states, it's not.

of abortion for women with all these petty legislative maneuvers, the real goal of these RWers remains to get Roe v Wade overturned entirely. They hope that, by passing clearly unconstitutional laws banning abortion that one of these will get to this Supreme Court, where they believe they have a good chance of getting the 5 votes needed to scrap Roe. They can't wait since it's always possible one of the Opus Dei Troglodytes presently on the Court may retire or croak, giving Obama a chance to name a more liberal Justice. A nasty two-pronged strategy designed to push women back to the dark ages in medical care.

where the left and the religious right will have their fingers wrapped around each others throats pretty much forever.
I was actually surprised to hear about some of the sneaky crap some states are coming up with to try to prevent abortions.

And they are willing to force their views on everyone. Even yesterday a Christian pastor publicly said that Christians are allowing others to worship or practice "in good faith". But Christians rule.
