The appreciation that the black guy deserves the same treatment as the white guy does not require the white guy to mangle his perceptions of himself. The whole premise of privilege is an attempt to connect things that do not require connection.

driving while black. The fact is that white people (and in a political context, white males) wield most of the power in our country. If we white folks, male and female, really wanted such injustices to end, they would end. With great power comes great responsibility.
