Biden Calls On Trump To 'Step Down' Over Botched Response To Pandemic

During a town hall hosted by CNN, Biden asserted that “what presidents say matter.”

If elected, “I will make it clear what is needed to be done,” the Democratic candidate said.

Biden said Trump’s response to the pandemic is “all about his re-election.”

“It should be about the American people, and they’re in trouble,” he told the town hall audience.

The Democrat pointed to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Robert Redfield’s assertion during a Senate testimony on Wednesday that masks are “more guaranteed” to protect against the virus than a vaccine, a comment that flew in the face of Trump’s heavy emphasis on cranking out a vaccine while downplaying the importance of masks.

“You’ve got to level with the American people, shoot from the shoulder,” Biden said on Thursday. “There’s never been a time they have not been able to step up. This president should step down.” - TPM

They should let Kamala Harris loose on this subject too. Let her be the attacker more so than Joe. But I passion!

ever asserted that the sitting president should resign? I suppose maybe a fringe candidate before/during the primaries may have said this. Maybe they do this all the time. But 7 weeks before the general election?

My guess is that this is not an off-the-cuff remark from Biden. And if indeed it isn't, we're going to see it repeated and amplified going forward.

As much as I hate Trump, it's simply inappropriate for ANY challenger to suggest that a sitting president resign. There are plenty of people who hate Trump but are okay with Pence.

So there's that. And a "just sworn in" pence cannot pardon state law crimes:

has no leadership so he's taking charge ahead of time so we don't become a third world country.
He could start by getting everyone wearing a mask.

It was the people of the Senate and House(Republican Held) and Republicans that became flawed. The Republican Party became power hunger when they should have been looking at welfare of the US. No way could the founding father could have ever though so many individuals would enable and protect a President like Trump... Real American Patriots regardless of party would have stopped and individual like Trump...
