Let's be clear: the Constitution grants the states sole authority to conduct federal elections. Hobbling the US Postal Service is therefore illegal interference in an election.

A Cease-and-Desist Order...
…is issued by a government agency or a court.
… requires the offender to stop activity.
...requires the offender to respond to an agency or court.
… prohibits the offender from legally continuing activity.

Cease-and-desist order
A cease-and-desist order places an injunction on a company or person prohibiting the activities that are deemed suspect. A cease-and-desist order may take the form of a temporary injunction until a trial can be held to determine the outcome or a permanent injunction after the trial concludes.

Seems like America will kick this around a few days. Maybe someone will find the magic formula. Violating specific Constitutional duties is not garden variety regulations. It's the foundation of American commerce, or was at one point. But you need specificity: evidence, locale, jurisdiction, documentation. I'd bet more than 60% of even Trump appointed judges would frown heavily on messing with the USPS to hinder free and fair elections. At least in theory.

We don’t need a fully settled decision before November. We need a stoppage from a court. IANAL, so I don’t know what term fits better, but an injunction, a cease and desist order, whatever form the stoppage of a slowdown takes, let’s do it.

It's up to someone to stop him. I would suggest our elected officials do this. If not........well, it's up to us. It's time to start brainstorming, apace.

Last I checked, interfering with the mail and interfering with an election BOTH are. Doing them at the same time should be,like, double federal prison.

The Constitution does indeed grant States control of the electoral process. But there's nothing in the Constitution or Federal Statute that grants a right to receive or send a ballot by mail.

If they struck for two weeks demanding a stop to changes and reinstallation of mail sorting machines (which does impact their jobs), would that work? The drawback is the number of people who would be hurt by not getting their meds and checks.

If Trump is able to continue, he will have crippled the postal service by November. And once the election is over, he and Republicans will make plans to privatize it so some private equity fund can come in and take it ver for peanuts, raises prices, and close rural offices that do not meet their exorbitant profit margins, just as they’ve done with a lot of rural hospitals.
