Early on election night, Trump will come out and declare victory...

...no matter the actual facts. He will simply go strutting out in front of the cameras, say he's the winner, and declare that any further discussion of the matter is the Dems trying to "steal" the election. The rest of the GOP will immediately go along, like a flock of parrots. Fox "news" will trumpet the "winner" of the election. The real media, solemnly attempting to get at actual facts and call actual states, will be blindsided, and immediately start acting as though there's a "controversy". Both-Siderism, brought to a new level. The plans for this are already in existence--I am as certain of that, as I am of anything. This, among many other strategies to steal the Presidency, *will* happen. I hope that Mr Biden and his people are preparing for it.

I've been posting this for weeks.

Just be prepared for it. He wants that headline all over social media and everywhere else. Then his devotees will believe any other outcome is theft.

There is no such thing as sitting back and winning this thing in routine fashion.

The rest of the post is wrong as well. The tv networks will be calling the results as they always do, the momentum will build as Biden wins state and after state and they start taking senate seats too, and the pundits will be talking about a Democratic landslide. Biden will be declared the winner and will be sworn in in January.

I'm really sick of these defeatists posts that treat drumpf like some all-powerful god who cannot be overcome. He's an evil con man blowhard who even repub officials don't want but can't say so because of their idiot followers. They'll be glad to see him go once the results are in, and the repub Supremes aren't going to save him either.

We will only know when it happens. The media however, generally takes victory and concession speeches with a grain of salt until the results are clear.

that different than 2000 really...I will say the GOP had worked overtime for 30 years to destroy Hillary so that was different. This is a different election; we have thousands dead and an economy on life support...also the economy is worse in swing states...this is 2020. I do not see Trump winning and I believe we may win the Senate as well.

I volunteered to be a poll worker even though I know I am risking my life.We have to make sure polls are open for those who will vote in person. I am voting early and skipping mail in ballots so as not to help Trump in any way. I will do what it takes to beat SOB Trump...and every Democrat I work with and call feels the same way...we accidentally call GOP types every election (the scripts are for our side). But this year, often the GOP types say they are voting for Biden...less hangups too.

didn't vote for Clinton because the were ticked about Sanders, Warren bashed Obama and Clinton by association right up to October as she tried to exploit her misunderstanding of TPP, Comey, polls may have been wrong, etc.

But there is no doubt in my mind that 1 or 2% of Democratic voters thought we had it in 2016, and they didn't care about local elections. That was more than enough to throw election in key states.

I don't care if Biden is ahead by 15 percentage point, we need to GOTV and make it 20% to send a message to trump and GOPers, not to mention take down-ballot positions.

especially if Republicans favour in-person voting, which seems likely (since Trump is hypnotising them into thinking absentee votes are bad, unless it's a Trump using them).

If figures for a state are given for in-person and early voting, but don't include mailed-but-not-yet-received-and-counted votes, there could be states that make Trump look better than reality. He'll use that, for sure, claiming the other votes shouldn't be counted, and that any state that changes from a narrow Trump lead to a Biden one is "crooked".

And the same goes for exit polls; how prepared will the pollsters and media be to fashion a poll that is truly indicative of in-person and mail voting? Will they have the patience to say "we have to wait for a sample of people who mailed a vote in at the last possible moment", and to balance the voting methods once they've got proper figures on how much each method was used? Again, I fear they won't be able to resist giving in-person exit poll results the moment they can, and that could distort expectations. Which then could encourage Trump to start filing lawsuits.
