(296,855 posts)Thursday so I can track it. His birthday is the 10th on Monday. I plan to go to the Post Office with my receipt if he doesn't get it by Tuesday. He lives on the other side of the Island.
Thank you for the info, IcyPeas.

(10,001 posts)It just used the Online tracking system and although delivery was supposed to be on the 3rd, it was delivered to the PO Box on the 4th, better than the 10 days it took to receive her Mother's Day card!

(35,296 posts)be voting early at our local election office.

(33,999 posts)Most boards of election require ordinary mail (not certified). Check with your board of election - it may be different.
But stop buying into Trump's plan that the post office is (or making it) unstable. Request your ballot athead of time. Return it ahead of time. At least a week ahead of the election check to make sure it has been returned and accepted for counting (most jurisdictions have a website that can give you this information).
He wants you to mistrust the post office so that you vote in person. He wins that way. Don't fall for his cheap tricks.

I did try to check the tracking number to see if it really was only sent yesterday, but also got the not available message. Not sure why there was Sunday delivery, but I actually saw a couple of mail trucks earlier today when running some errands.

(14,852 posts)It was usually on a Sunday night when I saw it, coincidentally, and that message isn't new at all.
Maybe they perform updates periodically, like what happens at banks and all kinds of places? Even DU does it.
Edit: It would be nice if they let people KNOW they're undergoing routine maintenance, though.

Not good at all.

(14,852 posts)... shows it's been happening for years.
I saw a similar complaint dated 2012 after a quick search.
It never happened to me either until I started ordering a bunch of stuff online during the pandemic, then saw it happen occasionally. It was usually a Sunday night for me and affected EVERYTHING that I was awaiting,

(9,213 posts)killer. My package has literally just been sitting in their holding facility for 2 weeks and does make me wary of ordering online, but then I know that's what Trump wants is for us to use other services so it looks like the USPS is a failure.

(21,841 posts)my packages appear to be at my local post office since aug. 7. one says I'll get it today, the other is still stuck somewhere.
Buckeye_Democrat
(14,852 posts)... that usually happens on a Sunday night.
If so, they should probably post a warning about it like most institutions (such as banks) do whenever it's scheduled.

(10,162 posts)We sent out two flat-rate boxes, one small and one large from Wisconsin to D.C. on Thursday at closing (6:00 p.m.), and they were delivered Saturday morning.
We don't use anything but USPS, unless we're forced to, and nothing will scare us off.
