I wonder if the tremor was part of a major rockslide. I remember when a section of I-40 was closed for an extended period while clearing a rockslide.

An earthquake in 1886 practically leveled Charleston, SC, and was felt as far away as Boston.

Yep, I felt it sitting in my chair this morning. It started rocking side to side (gently, but definitively). Lasted about 3 seconds. I'm from the northwest, so I knew what it was. Our dog woke up immediately, too.
