Took my first trip in 6 months this weekend

I’ve been getting cabin fever, finally decided to take a little trip to see a friend. Driving up solo was no issue. Nor is my visit with my friend. We’ve been visiting in his garage, about 8 ft apart, with garage door open and a fan to keep the air circulating. The big thing is staying in a hotel. The hotel appears to be on top of it. The room was clean and since I’m staying a couple nights no maid service till I check out. I’ve stayed here in the past and one of the things I’ve always liked is the hot breakfast they put on. When I checked in I said I suppose you don’t have breakfast now, I thought maybe they’d offer a bag meal or something. But she said they aren’t doing the self serve but they’d make a hot breakfast I can take back to my room. I didn’t check it out yesterday but I think I will go take a look in the morning and decide whether to try it. I’ve gotten pizza or other fast food a few times over the last 6 months and getting breakfast here would be the same thing so I might give it a try. Everywhere around here people are all masked up. But I’ve noticed very heavy vehicle traffic which is surprising.

We're thinking about taking a road trip down the California coast. It won't be too long, so we could do a day trip or make a weekend break out of it.

One issue is staying a hotel. For example, I'm seeking travel guides/articles suggesting not have daily room cleaning. We also have to take our dog, so I'm not sure that it's a very appealing idea. It would be nice to get away, but maybe the best we do is day trips.

If we were to go to the hotel, I'd like to avoid elevators and have a window to open.

and I didn't want daily service, especially with my dog. I sleep very late normally but while there I got up to take my dog for a walk at 4 AM then went back to bed.

I worry about the ventilation in hotels these days. Do most hotels have windows that open more than a few inches?

We can control most things, but not the air we breath when we are in an air-conditioned hotel. I know the room has a window that opens a bit (we stayed there last year in a "dog room&quot , but I don't remember how wide it opens.

It's on the central CA coast, so it's not that hot there (high of 70 degrees F).

We probably won't overnight, since it's only a 2 hour trip each way.

We went to see Carnival. I thought it would be nice and warm in Nice but when the plane landed I saw snow! I had packed shorts and sandals but ended up needing to buy boots. Since my dog is (oops "was" since she died 2 months ago and I am still heartbroken) only 7 pounds I was able to scoop her up and hold her inside my warm jacket since it snowed 5 more times! We are from San Diego so she saw, walked in and licked snow for the first, and only time. In France they put a dog dish on the table for her! Yes, we loved it.

I do run one of our vehicles across town each week to keep the cobwebs blown off so to speak. Traffic has picked up in the mornings as the area moved into lesser degrees of quarantine. Afternoons from say 11am on were already busy as folks who were staying at home did their errands and alike. Patterns are certainly different.

It all seemed to go ok but I guess I won’t really know for a week or so. The room had individual AC and the maid didn’t come in between nights. It was pretty busy around there but freeway traffic comingvand going wasn’t bad. It was sure nice to get away a little bit.
