Why am I hearing some Biden supporters are afraid of him debating Trump???

I am looking forward to the debate. Biden did great in the Democratic debates against much smarter people. I realize Trump is unorthodox but Hillary wiped the floor with him and now he has 4 years of total disaster to try to defend. Biden will have all the scandals, atrocious data etc. at his fingertips. He sometimes gets tripped up on a word or two but he remembers all the important points. Trump's mental decline has accelerated probably because of the barrage of political attack ads as his self centered brain is overwhelmed and shorting out. I am sure Biden will be working with a psychologist to know just got to get under Trump's skin and rattle him. This is different from 4 years ago because now his ego has to defend the pile of shit he created which I think will be more apt to get him upset. Also, I think the guy from HBO showed how to handle him. If Trump says something idiotic like "Look at the books" then Biden follows up and asks him "What books what the FUCK are you talking about, that makes no sense?". Biden won't have to be as nice. He can be a pitbull. I also think Biden comes across more macho than a lot of the Republicans Trump debates. Trump made Marco Rubio, Jeb, Ted Cruz etc. look weak. Biden doesn't ever come across as weak and I think he will look more "Alpha dog" than Trump which is for some reason really important to a lot of folks.

What I'm seeing is the Trump camp desperately trying to lower expectations for Trump and raise them for Biden.

Also, that the reason Trump is claiming he wants more debates is because he's begun to come to grips with his poll numbers.

My only concern is that we have an objective moderator making sure Trump doesn't cheat, in the event the debates are conducted remotely.

show President Obama how it was done as it was staged after the first presidential debate in which Romney had pulled off a gish gallop against President Obama, a flummoxing technique that left many aghast at the effectiveness of it's sheer, unrelenting and staccato volume of words which monopolized all the space in the room.

Joe's performance showed how one had to take command of the debate by showing the ridiculousness of one's opponents arguments—thus the "please proceed, governor" phrase.

Biden was also extremely effective against the hackneyed, anti-democratic establishment arguments presented by Bernie Sanders in their debate during the Dem primaries this presidential cycle.

Joe will do fine, if any debates actually happened. And it's guaranteed he won't stand for trump invading his space on the podium.

She was kind of hard to handle because she just came up with stupid BS and sometimes people who do that are hard to debate because they are throwing out such strange stuff one doesn't quite know how to respond back.

"But what about Joe? He won't be able to handle a debate with Trump... no one can, but Biden is too... slow."

I always wonder if they are actually not for Biden at all. I don't mean there can be no criticism, or anyone who worries about the Trump chaos effect is against Biden.

But the incessant hinting that Biden is "slow" or "senile" really smacks of Trumpian projection. "I'm not senile, YOU'RE senile!"

I agree with you that Biden is actually tougher than most of Trump's GOP "opponents" were. (So was Clinton, of course, and she DID win the debates. Anyone who wasn't in the GOP bag knew that.)

The difference between now and 2016, well, we're all onto Trump now. And he's much less canny. He was crazy and mean and chaotic then, but now he's also crumbling. He never had much in the way of rational intelligence, but now he can't grasp even the thinnest of concepts, and he can't express anything but anger.

Now of course, about 40% of the populace can look at any insane Trump droolfest and declare it's really lemonade. But Biden probably has a better idea of how to deal with it than anyone else. He can learn from Clinton what "she should have done" (I "" that because she should never have been forced to do anything at all-- Trump shouldn't have had a chance to stalk her and insult her as he did). He will have several great debate coaches who have studied Trump and figured out how to get around the crazy.

Trump has nothing. He's not capable of listening to advice or changing. He'll debate like a gorilla. A fake gorilla! Biden will deal with it probably better than anyone else could. No one could make a debate with Trump into some sort of useful colloquy, but he'll be able to hold his temper and show the country-- this is what you will get from Trump forever, and you don't want it.

Biden just has to figure out how to deal with the worst-- Trump making even more vicious insults to his family (or Pres. Obama). Trump's already there, not just all the 'Hunter" stuff, but "hurt bible. hurt God." It's extremely hard to hold your temper when Trump bludgeonly smashes at your greatest vulnerability (loved ones). Trump doesn't love anyone, so he's invulnerable that way.

But Biden can rehearse some responses. I'd go for bland with most of the provocations, and restrained outrage with the worst ones. Hard to maintain, but he's pretty savvy and emotionally intelligent. And he will have some good coaches.

is the one that has already agreed to the debate commission's recommendations and who has not, and is still looking for conditions that will keep him from having to debate. Biden is an able debater. I don't think he is as good an orator as Obama, but Omana was easily one of the best orators we've ever had as President. Biden would love to debate, because it will give him a chance to reach out to Republicans who are undecided.

Most of what I've seen and heard about Biden not wanting to debate comes from the RW nutjobs, and is projection, pure and simple. Trump has to defend his record, and there are very few things that he has accomplished in the last four years that he set out to do, and even his most zealous fans know it. Moreover, he has to do something that he's never been able to do since he became president - convince those who aren't part of his base to vote for him. If he goes in with his standard stump speech, he loses the few remaining independent voters who might still be swayed.

I see so much mention of Biden's "gaffes" in the past. That is if you even consider them gaffes. Even if you do, they pale in comparison to trump's absolutely dumbfounding buffoonery. It's not even a close call. But trump's dumbfounding buffoonery has become so commonplace and normalized that it is barely even noticed any more; it's just kinda what he does, and never seems to cause any negative needle moving in the pools.

Biden on the other hand, if there's anything even remotely comparable to a "gaffe" during the debates, it will be played up to high heaven. trump could babble incoherent jibberish and scratch his armpits on stage, and it will just be another day.

first debated Romney? Remember when he was just sitting there while Romney won the first debate because it seemed like Obama froze. Well I have been nervous about debates since than. Hillary's debate kicked but. i had to read about it before I watched because I was not going to go through this nonsense again. I hope Joe does well. When he debated Paul Ryan he was younger and quick and he mostly just laughed in his face and the whole malarky thing caught on and it went from there.I don't trust these moderators if they are in the pocket of Trump. I just have to wait and see because the presidential debates did not blow me away from any of them to be honest except Liz Warren.
