Joe Biden said Sen. Kamala Harris is very much in contention to be his running mate on the 2020 Democratic ticket, clarifying that he doesnt hold a grudge against the California lawmaker for attacking him in an early primary debate.
The presumptive Democratic nominees conciliatory tone toward Harris comes after senior members of Bidens vetting team had thrown cold water on her vice presidential bid in the final stretch of Bidens search.
In late July, POLITICO reported that former Sen. Chris Dodd, who is part of Bidens vice presidential search committee, told a longtime Biden supporter that Harris had no remorse when asked about her confrontation with Biden at the first Democratic primary debate.
CBS News correspondent Errol Barnett asked Biden about those reports during an interview that aired Thursday morning as part of the virtual convention of the National Association of Black Journalists and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

(1,086 posts)I think Harris has always been on yes I'll accept her list. Other people seem to want her more then he does. And there is a whole lot of looking past him in that.

He does have to LIKE his VP, at the very least.
'While Harris rose to the top tier of Bidens running mate shortlist, POLITICO reported members of Bidens search committee expressed trust issues with the California senator.'
Problems @ the search committee???

Who knows why he chose to be somber and deliberate at that point? There could be a thousand reasons.

(239 posts)I think she is a bad choice and I would much prefer the more progressive Karen Bass from California.

(33,474 posts)...I, and everyone with a brain, will happily accept whatever woman he chooses.
I'm not crazy about Bass, but there are no women listed who would not be a huge improvement over Pence.

(14,559 posts)Now, I was a big Warren supporter earlier in this primary, but at this point I think Biden would be very wise to choose a woman of color. And, you know, Harris is ambitious, assertive, and has a lot of personal power and presence. Biden could definitely do worse. In fact, I think Harris would be a good pick.
