would anyone object to Joe Biden if he choose Gov Cuomo as his VP instead of a woman or woman of color? I really feel in my heart that had he been on the ticket with Joe. more people will cross over because this man is talented and knows his stuff and knows how to fight a bully and call out wrong during with these repuks when need be. I just wish by a miracle that he ends up being on the ticket. I know the whole woman mantra;but I have misgivings about that which I have talked about before and will shut up about that is where this country is. I do think we have a better choice putting a woman /woman of color on S.C or anywhere in high office in the Justice Dept. I just know I would be a lot more comfortable with Cuomo on this ticket than any woman. I also think the SC whip put Joe in a box and I bet if Obama was vetting, he would gladly invest in Cuomo. Not saying anything is wrong with any of the woman at all because they are all better than what we have sitting in the W.H now,but I just do not think the world has changed much since 2016 when it regards to a woman.I wish I felt differently. If Joe take the white house and dems win both senate/house than I would come here and take back everything I said and admit I was wrong.I so want to be wrong. That said, I am still voting to whomever Joe picks because we need a relief and for this country to get back on track. I also think the Dems needs to grow a backbone and attack just like the criminals are doing. Put AOC Ted Lu,Elizabeth Warren up front because Nancy and Chuck can only do but so much. Anyway ,my question is"Would you have a problem if Joe choose Cuomo"?
update. What if Cuomo changes his mind and agree to be his VP? Thanks for getting back to my question. You guys are the best. I am just a anxious and worried voter and like I said,I will vote to whomever Joe chooses, I just think with Biden/Cuomo tiket, that would be a shoe in. But thank you guys, I get it.
we can do it

(50,168 posts)2 slots in this country is long overdue and given the racial strife in this country, a woman of color wouldn't be a bad idea.

(14,782 posts)should be entirely focused on covid-related problems -- schools, health care, evictions, hunger, and state budgets. We've all been abandoned by the President and federal government to deal with this on our own, don't compound the problem for a state by inviting the governor to abandon the people of their state in favor of campaigning, fundraising, and debate-prepping.

(15,995 posts)That is something most women are familiar with.
I knew we'd get here as soon as I saw the comments way back when he said he'd choose a woman about how he was making a mistake to make such a promise.

(86,035 posts)You're asking Joe to go back on his word because you have a feeling that Cuomo should be it?
There's no good reason, including those you suggest, for him doing so.

(90,189 posts)...Joe has already made his preferences clear, and to go back on his word and pick a white male now would be to break faith with millions of people, including this white woman.

Sure, maybe the women could get another shot in...what, 16 years?

(23,370 posts)I would still vote for Biden whoever he chose. But, I would be disappointed in him and lose some respect for him.
Also, I think Cuomo is no where near as tough as Tammy Duckworth. I know her best because she is my senator. But, the other women are tough, too.

(90,189 posts)I wish I could have seen Kamala get all the time she wanted to grill certain people over the slow fire of her wrath.
Some of them hide it behind charm, like Stacy Abrams but they are what my late mother used to call the iron hand in a velvet glove. Never mistake them for weak.

(18,486 posts)I would object strongly.
And not just because he's not a woman of color. He'd be a disaster.
Can you imagine him being able to stand behind Biden on any stage? Being able to keep his mouth shut if he didn't agree with him?
Things that make a governor effective in a pandemic do not necessarily translate into making him a good running mate or even a good president.
And the outspoken NY governor, son of a very liberal NY governor would be a REAL big hit in the midwest swing states.
No. Nope. Nope.
But the fact that you'd be "more comfortable with Cuomo on the ticket than any woman" is very interesting.

(11,690 posts)I had to re-read the post. It is late and I am tired. My brain didn't want to see that tell about being "more comfortable..." on a Democratic site I guess.
Cuomo is not vice president material. Too much self importance. Biden was a great Vice President because he could keep his impulses in check. We know he has his own views and is passionate about things but he NEVER tried to out shine President Obama. He never quarreled in public, never went against the head of the Democratic Party and was good at what he was delegated to do.
Cuomo could not do what Biden did for 8 years, keep his self importance in check. Cuomo loves the spotlight a little too much to be an effective running mate.
I don't want to bash on Cuomo. He has been effective as Governor of New York. I just think that picking him as VP would be neither safe, nor smart.
As others have said, I will vote for Biden, no matter who he picks. I just happen to think that any of the women on the short list would be much more effective as VP than Cuomo.

(15,512 posts)I see the dilemma he faces, in that there are so many good choices and conflicting considerations, but anyone he chooses will get plenty of support along with an opportunity to make history as the first female president. In other words I think he can't go wrong with any choice and is probably delaying partly to build suspense for the convention, which is a tried and true trick!
