Louis DeJoy crippling the US Postal Service by shutting down mail-sorting machines

This is Louis DeJoy. He is the huge Trump DONOR who Trump made the Postmaster General of the United States. He is trying to DESTROY the US Postal Service to help Trump steal an election.

We need to make him famous.

Louis DeJoy gave $2,000,000 to the Republican Party under Trump who rewarded him by making him the head of the Postal Service DESPITE NO EXPERIENCE AT THE POST OFFICE.

The first thing he did was CUT SERVICES & create a MASSIVE BACKLOG of mail delivery.

“The cardinal rule is, ‘don’t delay the mail,’ and we’re in a 180-degree switch where we’re delaying mail every day,” adding that if the system is not fixed before election season, “it’s going to be a catastrophe.”

THIS IS ON PURPOSE.

Louis DeJoy’s wife also works for Trump.

Trump has openly LIED for a long time that mail in voting is unsafe. There is NO EVIDENCE of this.

It is very clear that Trump’s plan is to create suspicion around voting while DeJoy cripples mail delivery.

WE MUST STOP HIM.

Some of Louis DeJoy's changes which have crippled the US Postal Service:

- Shutting down mail-sorting machines so workers must do it by hand.

- Requiring letter carriers to LEAVE MAIL BEHIND to avoid extra trips.

- Prohibiting overtime pay.

This has created a massive backlog.

some of it was junk mail - credit card offers, local realtors announcing house XYZ in your neighborhood is on the market and if you would like expert help in selling yours...but, there is legitimate mail: in 2019, it was a ton of college mailings for my daughter. Plus local businesses that I may use that are not set up for electronic payment.

This is NOT counting anything delivered by Amazon.

However, I've noticed that over the past year or so, I often don't get any mail at least once per week, sometimes twice. The most common day is Saturday to not get any mail.

on an already declining economy. Online retailers will be seriously affected by the slow down in deliveries. Some people are already canceling their orders.

Then there are people who pay their bills by mail who will end up with late fees and the possible downgrading of their credit ratings.

Trump wants to win votes by bragging about his great economy and he is working to destroy it. Apparently there is nothing he won't destroy, because he can.

Many p.o. don’t do it this way anymore. It’s the machines that do the sorting. When my husband started at the post office in 1984, he sorted mail by hand and had to really know zip codes for every state. This is a disaster. Many people get medication by mail and when it gets delayed that’s a problem. It’s also going to kill businesses like Etsy. I ordered something from someone at Etsy over a week ago and still haven’t gotten it. I know it was mailed because I got a notification that it was and a tracking number. If enough of us start calling our representatives and senators with complaints maybe it will put pressure on them to do something.

This is going to have a wide impact on the country above and beyond Trump's attack on mail-in voting.

For instance, people are purchasing more online now. How will this effect Amazon? What's does Bezos have to say about it, considering his leverage?

In the more immediate sense, doing this to the USPS is going to throw bucket loads of sand into gears of the country and economy.

It is an even bigger mistake than it appears to be, IMHO. Predator Grump's desperation is getting even more destructive.

needed to be renewed in July. I didn't receive a notice in the mail so I went on line and renewed them. I was two days late, but they showed up a couple of days later. Yesterday, July 30 I received the notice in the mail saying they were due by the 10th of July. They had sent it early in July, plenty of time to get to me before they expired.

My other car is due in August and I will be renewing them very early in the month. I live in Washington state so I also vote by mail. I always have my ballot in the mail waiting two days of delivery. This year it will be in the mail the same day I receive it.

People are not supposed to walk around putting things in your home mailbox because it is federal property, in a sense. Must use a stamp, stamp must be canceled. This extends to your newspaper deliveries, which is why you see a lot of houses with two boxes on their stand: one for mail and one for a newspaper.

Likewise, it is a federal crime to break open a street corner mailbox to steal the mail. Special laws similar to wiretapping laws obtain if law-enforcement wants to intercept and open your mail.

And so on.

Getting ballots FROM people and delivering in bulk - suspicious.

Republican operatives gathered absentee ballots in bulk and then didn't deliver them (because the votes were likely for the Democratic candidate). Enough of this happened that the NC Board of Elections did not certify the results and the winner of that election called for a new vote.

https://www.newsobserver.com/news/politics-government/state-politics/article226581269.html

Pains me to say this but FedEx, UPS or DHL may be alternative methods. Or instead of taking people to the polls take people to drop off the ballots at an approved secure dropbox.

Surely they go against postal regulations, and union guidelines.

I can just imagine next move: dejoy to Postal Worker: "You're not keeping up on mail delivery." Postal Worker to dejoy: "You shut down the sorting machines.' dejoy: "You're fired."

What's next, do away with zip codes?

I hope that like the team in Major League, when their owner does all she can to make them lose, like pos dejoy is doing, the Post office comes out on top.

So many seniors and veterans get their life saving meds through the mail. Most are delivered based on subscriptions being renewed/replenished that must be taken without gaps in doseage. He DONT fucking care. Seniors and VETS. The VA requires you to have your meds delivered through mail. Those same people, as well as millions more are not getting bills until AFTER due dates, then getting big late due charges on fixed incomes.
I turned in my Taxes April 10th with returns due, as do many others. Those tax returns would be money back into the economy and really help out of work people. We are at August, still no tax returns, coming up on 4 months. At this point in this regime I would not be surprised if they cancel due tax returns. Never waited more than 6 weeks....ever.

And people tend to vote on issues like this, that affect them directly - even when they ignore larger issues.
