A nice story to kick off the weekend

Just got back home from my daily commute. I'm a blue dot in a sea of red here in rural northeast Georgia and am keenly aware of the issues involving the police and persons of color. I'll admit that I've never personally witnessed police brutality here, but that's not to say it doesn't happen, I just don't get out much.

Anyway, driving home, our two lane road was funneled into one, and as we inched closer I could see why: there had apparently been a minor accident and police and a tow truck were on the scene. As I slowly passed, I noticed a middle-aged AA woman speaking to a white police officer who looked to be around 60. You could see she was emotional but under control. Then, out of the blue, she approached him and gave him a hug. She backed away and he looked back at her with compassion and kindness. It was one of those moments I wished I'd had a camera, because it was sweet and impromptu and damned if I was the only person in the world at that moment that caught it.

Anyway, BLM and systemic race issues in law enforcement absolutely do exist and absolutely need to be addressed and remedied. But for one moment, I saw what I think all of us want to see: 2 human beings, one vulnerable, one with a badge, one black, one white, both displaying a humane and cooperative spirit at a time in America that desperately calls for it.

I think this is going to be a good weekend.

3. It does sound like a sweet moment from some sadness, but remember anyway, never touch a cop.

That could have gone very differently.

I’m thankful for all the good cops and hold a place in my mind for the day the baddies are all escorted out, replaced by more good ones.

But not for those who are being KIDNAPPED IN PORTLAND.

No, I will not hide my head in the sand and believe THIS is going to be a good weekend.

7. No, you're right. I shouldn't be celebrating a moment when others are suffering.

I encourage you to continue bringing their struggle and pain to the forefront. Only through awareness may we conquer and vanquish this monster threatening our very freedom.

There was a road rage incident involving a white guy in a pickup truck (New Hampshire plates) brake checking an African American woman, with a young child in her small car,

The white cop came down hard on the white guy. He asked the woman if she was okay, and told her that she could stay or leave.
