China Points to Shrimp as Virus Carrier After Salmon Debacle

China said samples of imported shrimp tested positive for the coronavirus, raising questions again over whether the pathogen can spread through food or frozen products.

The virus tested positive on both the inside and outside of the shrimp packaging, said China’s General Administration of Customs. The samples were from three Ecuadorian plants, and imports from those processors will be halted, it said. A leading Ecuadorian shrimp exporter disputed the findings.

it's not surprising that there'd be evidence of virus in and on the product.

Presumably this is PCR analysis, which just verifies the presence of viral particles, not necessarily infective particles.

... I don't think I will.

But what about our meat?

Never a better time to become a vegetarian. I'm so there morally, but I really really enjoy eating it. This has been a dilemma for me for a long time now.

Maybe the shrimp and fish population will recover if enough people don't want to take the risk. Maybe more vegetarians too.

The World is Changing.
