That is the difference.

Most so called Christian conservatives have never read the bible or taken the time to learn the basic truths. They go to church and nod their heads but leave empty headed and full of ignorance.

But to them, the Bible ends at the end of the Old Testament and resumes with Revelation.

They have deified their relatives, ancestors...they think black people killed them. Sure the northern troops had a hand in it, but they blame the black people. Totally tribal in their thinking.

Luke 15. The summary would be needed because these people are thick headed and ignorant as all get out.

I can hear the Barney's rebuttal already, "We ain't talking 'bout no sheep..."

their eyes glazed over. I could almost hear my neighbors brains start popping and fizzing.

At least this is simple and gives them something they can ponder and ask their Pastor about. I'm game.

Thanks for posting this OP, I'd have never thought of this on my own.

It's true as stated in the tweet, but further on in Luke 15, we learn that the lost sheep is an allegory for a sinner who needs to repent. Therefore, the argument can/will be made that Black people are sinners and that's why we have "bring them into the fold," and they need to adhere to white superiority. As opposed to Black lives mattering because of historic and contemporary brutality against Black people for no reason at all. I'm very uncomfortable with this extended frame.

Luke 15:3-7 (NIV)

3 Then Jesus told them this parable: 4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
