Before my WWII Dad passed, he stated that most Americans really want a "king." I laughed it off, but after watching Cheney's appeal I do think there are millions who just want a comforting father figure to tell them what to do.

Trump. Trump claiming other people don't know history.

Now if you considered the land mass now called Alaska America, it was discovered at least 12000 years ago, possibly even earlier, by people crossing the Bering land bridge from Siberia. Who exactly first stepped foot in Alaska we'll never know.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%27Anse_aux_Meadows

L'Anse aux Meadows (/ˈlænsi ˈmɛdoʊz/) is an archaeological site on the northernmost tip of the Great Northern Peninsula on the island of Newfoundland in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Archaeological evidence of a Norse presence was discovered at L'Anse aux Meadows in the 1960s. It is the only confirmed Norse site in or near North America outside of the settlements found in Greenland.

Dating to c.?1000, L'Anse aux Meadows is widely accepted as evidence of pre-Columbian trans-oceanic contact. It is notable for its possible connection with Leif Erikson, and with the Norse exploration of North America. It was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1978.

The Americas discovered by the ancestors of todays Native Americans 10,000+ years ago.
First European to discover the Americas and return Leif Eriksson.
First Southern European to discover America and return Columbus.

The difference being that the Spanish could exploit the discovery in a new economic system.

President Trump made a bit of a historical blunder during his Fourth of July “Salute to America” speech Thursday when he said that the Continental Army “took over the airports” from the British during the American Revolutionary War in the 1770s.

He's learned so much more about American history since then. Everyone knows there weren't any functional airports in the U.S. until the War of 1812. That's the same year they put aluminum siding on the White House.
