(51,082 posts)They really made a lame attempt at contacting him. It's like when you call someone during their lunch hour specifically so you don't have to talk to them.

(14,490 posts)This issue is over tRump's staff not being able to contact him on his personal cell phone over a political issue. It may even be a government-issue secure phone but that's irrelevant.
Critical government communications is handled by the Secret Service using a special high-security system and the S.S. stays with tRump like stink on shit. There's probably specialists from other agencies that travel with him as well such as the military and NSA.
So, there was never any risk of him not being available in a national emergency.
In fact, if you watch the videos of his entourage leaving the resort, you can see the special communications unit that looks like a heavy military truck with lots of antennas along with a shit-load of black SUVs.

(11,589 posts)President Donald Trump set off a "five-alarm fire" in the White House on Sunday morning after he retweeted a video of one of his supporters saying "white power," according to two White House officials.
The video remained on the president's Twitter page, where he has 82 million followers, for more than three hours because White House officials couldn't reach him to ask him to delete it, the two officials said. The president was at his golf club in Virginia and had put his phone down, the officials said.
Aides also tried unsuccessfully to reach deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino to ask him to delete the retweet, officials said.
To say it's not acceptable is an understatement.
