New NYT :U.S. spies, commandos in Afghanistan alerted superiors as early as Jan. to a Russian plot

Two officials said the information about the bounty hunting was "well-known" among the intel community in Afghanistan, including the CIA's chief of station and other top officials there, like the military commandos hunting the Taliban. The info was distributed in intel reports.

This is not going to go away. Every few hours, more and more is coming out.

When giving his pal Vladimir a tour of that penthouse on top of Trump Tower Moscow. A guy could fall out of a window or something.

Putin will have no use for him once he is out of the White House. He will have to look for another country without extradition.

There are several nice "shithole" ones available in Africa.

They believe it. That settles it.

And as Pelosi has made it crystal clear there will be no further impeachments, all our chips are on the election will the consequences now being a dictatorship or civil war.

the situation would be very complicated, to say the least.

Pence would have to go, too, since there is no way he did not know. Cabinet and most of the WH staff are collaborators with Trump. The new president would need whole new staff and cabinet, and then a newly elected president would start all over again in a few months. Actual removal of Trump and Pence would not happen overnight.

The interim replacement for Trump and Pence would be Pelosi herself, according to the rules of succession. Magas would claim it was a coup and launch a civil war.

Civil war might still come after November 3.

What a mess.

To me the result is the same either way. The only advantage of acting sooner is to get the nuclear launch codes away from Trump who is itching to use them. Waiting will be will be a world-spanning calamity. I do not believe Putin wishes to deal with the president after Trump.

to deal with Biden and the people Biden will bring with him. Will not want to face the consequences of the wrath of Americans who do not worship him.

So he will go all out to prevent Biden from winning. If that fails, Putin will go all out to prevent Biden from taking office.

I'm afraid we face some terrible battles ahead that might be more physical in the real world than ideological in cyberspace. Not sure of the exact form these would take. Disruption of communications, electrical grid, hacking and freezing of banking systems, etc.

Maybe actual street fighting between political and racial groups.

while expending every effort to damage the election and destroy its credibility. He is totally cool with civil war in the U.S. But, if it looks like Biden will win, he would prefer to burn the whole planet down, than face the consequences. So, he will order Trump to use nukes.

Putin is evil but not stupid or self destructive.

The US is not the only country with nukes. And Putin is despised and distrusted in nuclear armed nations that would feel it necessary to protect themselves when the US can't or won't.

But Trump might be stupid enough or twisted enough to try to take the nation down with him if he feels too threatened. Even then, I think there are people around Trump who are not suicidal enough to go along with him. Launching nukes is not easy in the US. It's more than just punching in the right codes. Our military brass are onto Trump and would refuse to comply with launching against American targets.

But if Putin did launch against us, they would fight back. Our military power is still much greater than Russia's and Putin knows this.

I don't think nukes will come into the picture.

but Trump is highly unstable and Putin is not going to suffer for his evil. If he thinks he can get Trump to launch on Iran, or Iraq, or even on the US, he will.

Pardons for Flynn et al coming soon. Lady G and McConnell are neck deep in Putinism. And here we are at July 4th, a year after GOP traitors spent the weekend with Putie Poo. And trump has the Gall to spend it a Mt Rushmore. As S Schmitt said this AM, trump needs to spend the 4th at Stone Mountain Georgia, his true hero’s and mentors. We have been sold to Russian. The entire GOP approves 100 percent.

He's tainted by collusion. Since he claims to be a practicing Christian, (claims to be; a true Christian would never yoke himself to Trump and his madness) I would ask him what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and in the process lose his soul? Let's see how many knots he twists himself into this week trying to explain away this one like he did the question about wearing masks. Either you and Trump were in the loop, and as the Commander in Chief and his second in command you obtained the briefing, or you weren't in the loop. If the latter is the case, then who the hell is running the county? Meadows? Oh, that's right he wasn't the COS at the time. Ratcliffe? No, he wasn't the DNI at the time either. Then who? Putin?

President Obama had H1N1 smack him in the face one month after taking office. It was a novel virus also. And by the way, he had at that time the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression to deal with, and he had al quida cells actively plotting to harm Americans. President Obama dealt with all that superbly. There is a difference between being led by a leader and being led by a fool.
