The Natl. Guard was lined up to prevent protesters from entering a freeway (assumed). They ended up taking a knee and talking with some of the protesters.
Hollywood, California.
(sorry about the quality: I took iPhone photos of the tv).

(6,221 posts)We were trained for riot control, but were very much aware that we were just "some of the folks" here in the U.S. unless we were mobilized and sent overseas. One of our biggest worries was what to do if we were in riot formation with bayonets and were up against our friends and college classmates. Some of the guys said they would refuse to take part and accept their Article 15s or whatever came their way.

(21,771 posts)I remember at this initial pandemic outbreak in my hometown, the National Guard came to help with food distribution and deep cleaning of schools and other facilities.
Most were from the NY 369th, aka the "Harlem Hellfighters"/"Black Rattlers"/"Men of Bronze" Quite a storied history with them, from World War I.

(1,568 posts)It's very obvious by the way some of these folks do not want things to improve and they don't want peace. I mean, there are some people supposedly on the left who have equally bad takes on how to proceed and what's needed, but it's not nearly on the same level. Horrible ideas and views are pretty much unanimous on the trumpian side.
