TAMPA, Fla. —
Gov. DeSantis announced that he has activated the Florida National Guard amid protests around the state for racial equality.
Gov. DeSantis activated them on Saturday.
According to a tweet from DeSantis' communications director, Helen Aguirre, there are 150 guardsmen in Miramar, 150 in Camp Blanding and 100 in Tampa.
"These specially trained units support law enforcement in many ways i.e. traffic & crowd control, all to preserve the peace & public safety," read the tweet
