From all indications, he is solidly on the narcissistic personality disorder spectrum and at least a malignant narcissist and highly likely a full blown sociopath. As others have said, he is mentally ill and it was quite obvious from his entry into presidential politics in 2015, how unstable and dangerous he is and is virtually the LAST person the republican voters should have considered during the primary.

Did they do that ? No of course not.
