I just DON'T get it... People are frickin nuts and it's gonna kill so many more...

Everywhere I look on social media, to the news, local and across the country. I see comments like

"The Govt is trying to CONTROL us"

"Do I need Permission to wipe my ASS"

"The problem is over, take off your masks and live your life"

- Ad Nauseum

I see these comments coming from locals I thought I "knew" in my small town
and it's NOT just MAGAts. WTAF?

Did the entire population decide they all know more then Public Health Officials and Science?

It's not just who wears a mask or not, it people seriously DEMANDING that EVERYTHING go "back to normal" NOW

Humans are really just petulant children. Were there people ding this in Europe? Or ANY other countries? is it just Americans who are so self absorbed and fucking stupid?

Meanwhile the numbers are FAR from going down.
we are silly to think after this weekends shennanigans all over that we are going to be ok in a couple weeks.

So, when the shit REALLY hits the fan in a couple weeks and people start dropping literally like flies, will these people just flat REFUSE to shut it down again?
...and what about the workers? If you can't work cuz things are closed you get unemployment, if your boss is more interersted in his bottom line and decides to open, and you refuse to go...how many people are gonna LOSE unemployment? Where are their court cases?
~ ~

Im sickened after this whole weekend. Im scared for myself and my parents and family. I have autoimmune stuff and yet because I dont have any solid income I have to go out more for groceries and can't just stock up and hunker down. I'm crying right now because I honestly dont know where my next paycheck or groceries will come from, will probably borrow a little fomr my folks to just get through the week. I was coming off disability when this whole thing started and was not employed...got a small side gig with a elderly aunt helping her once a week... Been trying to apply for remote work but no bites. Even if things were "normal" I cant go back to work like when I was 20, I may have to apply for perm disability if this arthritis doesn't back off soon... ugh im just done
When this is all over I am selling everything and oving deeper into the woods away from HUMANS...

sorry for the rant. comment on any one of my stupid points above

Trump supporters will vote for trump, not because he promises them a better life, but because they hate more than half the rest of the people that live in their country.

While I look at pictures of the parties in that lake in the ozarks and think: WTF?, I also know that so many of my friends who live alone and my daughter (9) are suffering a lot. They are lonely and angry and sad and this is really hard on them. People want to see each other desperately. My daughter hasn't seen a friend in two months and two weeks in person.

I get why people want things to just go back to normal. (We are trying to figure out ways to feel normal without putting ourselves and others at risk.)

Now, our normal in no way means we would go to a crowded pool party or boardwalk or parade. That's never been my scene. But I"m desperate for school to start in the Autumn, and I really hope the government officials in NY State and NYC can figure out a safe way to do so.

I'm not judging people who see their family or close friends. I understand why they do so. I've had a few friends who have recovered from Covid, and it was a very tough illness. I don't want to get it. But seeing my young child suffering what seems like clinical depression is also jarring.

The idea of living like this for a year or more is frightening and taking its toll on everybody.

(More anger at ineffectual government steps to test/trace/treat would be totally appropriate.)

Nobody likes it that this thing is real and we desperately want it to go away. But some people are so brainwashed by everything Trump and so eager to believe what he has told them - because the reality sucks so much - that they'll behave as if it's all OK.

I have been seeing this craziness too for a while. I talk to my friends and they are sane (for now) but just yesterday one friend said he traveled to the next state nearby because he wanted to sit down and eat in a restaurant. 🙄. He’s already an airport shuttle driver. When they say you can’t stop stupid it’s true. My research has verified it.

When the docs and nurses start quitting or striking in frustration or someone close to the dunderheads gets very sick or dies maybe someone will pay closer attention. Until then, it seems true you can't cure stupid. And your points aren't stupid, they are heartfelt and sadly pretty right on. I wish you the best in these crazy awful times.

It seems to be growing worse every day. That pool party in Osage Beach, MO with people almost literally piled on top of each other - Good Grief!

I was looking at the OP and when I got to the "Do I need Permission to wipe my ASS" part and thought - "if you're that much of a reckless moron, maybe what you need is INSTRUCTION to wipe your ass."

... before, that hatred supposedly boosts self-esteem for many people!

Hatred Enhances Your Self-Esteem
https://www.wsj.com/articles/hatred-enhances-your-self-esteem-11562021287

I'm sorry, but I'm struggling at this time to find the scientific study which showed it was true. That's what I wanted to share, not just this editorial piece from the WSJ.

I witnessed a bunch of factory coworkers who were strongly attracted to the anger and hatred of Rush Limbaugh back in the 80's (when I first heard him). They were gathered around a portable radio at an outside picnic table, eating their lunches while listening to him. It was OBVIOUS that they were mostly entertained by his anger and hatred, not so much the messaging. (Sort of like a radio version of "The Jerry Springer Show".)

I'm sure the actual words and ideas seeped into their minds eventually.

And you can take this however you want, but even the worst case scenario of this Corona Virus, it will kill off perhaps one percent of people. Which will not make an appreciable dent in the population.

Think about it.

We are acting as if just the 1-2% who die are the only ones affected. But a good 20% will never be the same, and half of those will be young (under 65).

The face mask arguing feels like something toddlers who didn't know better would do?

We have a network that flat out lies, not just bias toward one side, and it's so fucking obvious, I don't even need to name it!

No transparency for Death Count Donnie, and hiding all instant Presidency ending documentation, at every turn?

Been furious for a while.

who live in places that have not seen a lot of infections and hospitalizations. There are some counties that have below ten infected, some with none in the county. To them, there are more heart attacks in a month. I find, particularly in non-urban and homogeneous areas, people really don't get it unless it happens to them.
