This virus was a heaven-sent opportunity for Trump to at least pretend he was human...

...I mean, how hard would it have been to give a simulacrum of "concern" for the people suffering and dying from Covid? Even if his "concerned" grimaces looked like an android trying to show emotion--the very fact of it would have done wonders for him. Chuck Todd would have been having orgasms telling us about the "new" Trump, how he's finally become "presidential". The media would have cheered their heads off. He would be leading Biden in all the polls. But he just wasn't capable of it. Too lazy, too ignorant, just too much of a goddam sociopath. It was just an effort he was incapable of making. So he goes back to his old standards--conspiracy theories, hate, racism, sexism. Even Cruz, even Rick Scott, even Pence, for Chrissakes, could have made some kind of effort. But not Trump. Really--the worst human being in this country...

It would have been simple. Even a tiny modicum of "concern" (Susan Collins might have even loaned him some of hers.) One remark about the trauma people are experiencing might have helped. From the first responders to the front line medical workers, all of them would have appreciated some tiny mention.

But no. He is not capable of such a thing.

But he simply isn't capable of admitting that other people know more than he does.

a narcissist like trump does not care about anyone but themselves, no matter what is going on around them, they simply ignore it and continue do what they do best, make excuses, lie, and of course blame everyone else for their lack of doing the right thing.

I have said it before, if he had taken the virus seriously. Spoke truthfully to the nation, letting us know that we were going to be in for rough times but he was going to do everything to make sure we got through it together.Make sure the states had what they needed, hospitals have what they need. He would have been a lock for re-election. But nooo, he could not even do that.

Rudy should have given him some tips. Rudy became America's mayor due to his 9/11 response. But us NYers knew he wasn't shit back then. But in those moments, he managed to pull a city together along with the country. It was a gimme!

Likewise, this was a gimme for Trump. But the only way he knows to do anything is to be hateful, and corrupt. He cannot stop being the slime ball that he is.

Hurricanes, terrorist attacks, tornadoes, etc. just about anything major and bad other than an economic collapse.

They're all opportunities for any politician lagging in the polls to just come out and look like a "leader" merely by making a speech urging unity, saying we'll all get through this together, etc.

Shrub went from zero to hero for no good reason right after 9/11. Of course he pissed it away, but point is, he just did a marginal job at doing the obvious and his approval rating hit 90%.

Donnie couldn't even manage one simple and obvious speech and barely got a bump in the polls.

Dotard Donald pissed it away before it even had time to fill up his bladder.
