So there was this post about something that got posted on facebook, and I was asked if it was offensive. Well, yes, I was offended by the thing that was posted on facebook, but the poster basically said "Look at this." I may have reacted too quickly, because I was offended by by the thing on facebook, but I was not offended by the poster.
Disgusting things get posted here all the time. Example: Any picture of Donnie Tiny Hands. I enjoy making fun of him, and enjoy the comments about him that are captioned cleverly. Side note: I enjoy your posts, Ferret, although I had to look up some of the words in your insults.
Should I have clicked so quickly on the "It violates the rule" button because the content offended me but the poster did not?

(7,399 posts)I sort of had a pang of fear. Imagine getting called now? Locked in that room with others for so long?
That would not be good.

(2,471 posts)With only one exception that I can think of, each time on jury duty was very subjective.
Just do the best you can.

(1,253 posts)but I have been called in a few times. But whether in civi or criminal court, or DU court, I still take the obligation seriously.
This should have actually been a reply to post #3.

(25,816 posts)And to all who avoid jury duty, what the fuck is wrong with you? Why are you not willing to fulfill a basic service of citizenship? I have never understood the eagerness of most people to avoid jury duty. And it's not even that common. I'm 71 years old, and even though I've been a registered voter for some 50 years (and voter rolls are the most common way of selecting jurors) I've been called to jury duty once and only once in all these years. Alas, I wasn't able to serve and was dismissed because in about two days a family vacation was coming up, airplane tickets and hotels already paid for, so I was dismissed. Sigh.
I used to know a couple of people, she was a college professor, he a free-lance journalist, who chose not to register to vote for fear they'd be called to jury duty. I'm only sorry I never confronted them on that.
So, do jury duty. It's a fundamental part of being a citizen.

(204,779 posts)Sometimes jury service here can be confusing since it's not always possible to discern the context, but just do the best you can.

(204,779 posts)When I've been on juries, I've been surprised when posts were hidden and those I've definitely voted to hide have ended up on The Greatest Page. I never second guess juries.
