A confusing rationalization

People are angry over the wearing of masks?

It is my understanding that a mask is worn to protect others more than it is to protect yourself?

So why would people, that do not wear a mask, object to being protected from a virus?

Why do they object to others wearing a mask? Since they stand a better chance of infecting someone else if they are not wearing a mask, why would they prefer that you not wear a mask also?

I cannot understand this rationalization?

1. My take...

We are projecting our intelligence and common sense outward as if we assume that they are universal in this country.

The truth is that there is a sampling of the population that are total dumbass morons who, not being able yet to distinguish their asses from holes in the ground, are unable to grasp all the complexity surrounding ideas like contagion, vectors, masks, PPE, and that odd concept of social distancing.

In their total confusion, they cry with passion, "My Freedumbs!" in hopes that that will suffice as a seemingly meaningful response and to cover for their complete befuddlement on matters concerning a very big word: pandemic.

Our expectations are bound to be dashed again and again if we don't come to grips with just how vapid and confused these people really are. Sorry.

... in order to "make Trump look bad," so they think masks are totally unnecessary in either direction, probably, and are only worn because the wearer is weak, frightened, or liberal.

...and/or has little news value and/or is raising tensions and/or is counter-productive as a PSA?

This is admittedly subjective, but "empty" is a bit harsh.

rather than cherry-picked aberration. Also, running and analyzing the relevant numbers of pro vs anti stories of a given topic and from a given media outlet.

You know... the scientific method. Else it is empty.

Nah, I believe I've met what burden of proof is required for a mild criticism offered on a forum.

Would you ask for all that if instead I asserted that Tucker Carlson was a doody-face?
