I have a long boring story about a 15-stripe flag, and how it clinched for me the very bad conservative turn some of my closest friends took right after college. I'd had a terrible crush on one of them which ended that day. Since then I've thanked fate or my lucky stars or Murphy the trickster god for the biggest mistake I never made.
