Kiwis have a fun way of phrasing things. And she can't hide her excitement at the situation.

Going on about the business on hand a bit slower while mentally calculating it the magnitude is large enough to be concerned if it lasts more than around 20 seconds.
During the 8.1 Easter quake a decade ago, we only got concerned when it was obvious the quake was getting stronger and was going to last significantly longer after about 15 seconds of shaking.
When the water started sloshing out of the aquarium after 30 seconds, the spouse said "Shouldn't we stand in a doorway or something?". By that time, it was just too late to move off the sofa or chair without possibly getting hurt.
(I spent enough time shipboard to know about moving over heaving surfaces...)

a foot on something broken and turns a great experience into an emergency. Of course, we were comfortable knowing our old bungalow had withstood 60 years of quakes before we came along.

During one very large one (we left before yours) I watched a street of apartment houses rise and fall with the waves. I was so jealous, though, when I got home and learned that our neighbor stood at her front window and watched the Verdugo Mountains our homes looked out on roll with the waves. Those on the left half below; our homes were on the other side of them, up the slope between them and the San Gabriels showing on the right.

I miss the earthquakes. Wondering if I might have felt a tremble in the ancient seabed that's Florida is hardly a substitute.

This clip reminded me of a Trump rally where a protester tried to rush the podium where Trump stood, and he ducked like the wimp he is and security rushed him off stage. A similar incident happened with Hillary and she stood there calmly and let security do its job. Imagine how much better off we would be now with Hillary as president. It breaks my heart to know that thousands of people might still be alive.
