They replied, yes it is.
Then I replied, I got my degree in Economics, I know my shit. Then gave her the definitions and used examples. Pointed out that there is no such thing as a pure capitalist system, socialist system and that communist countries were really just dictatorships, etc.
She gave up.

(9,090 posts)and talk radio being the only unique advantage they have
and artificial intelligence can digitize it all for analysis and listing advertisers....

(9,090 posts)they sit in think tanks watching for us to get any kind of messaging and framing win and they yawn, come up with a PR campaign to counter it or undermine it, often based on bullshit, feed it to limbaugh or breitbart of drudge and pretty soon it's all over 1500 radio stations for as long as it takes

(25,122 posts)What do you mean? Who doesn't know the right-wing media bubble is a huge problem? It's legal and the right-wing has unlimited funds. What can anyone do?

(9,090 posts)it's not the money. it's not the economy, the cycles, the voter suppression - all that is what democracy is supposed to regulate. it's the fucking radio, which allows corporate and russian think tanks to create pro-corporate made-to-order constituencies, and unlike fox, can be locally coordinated.
at $1000/hr x 15hrs/day x 1200 stations rw radio is worth $4.6BIL/yr. FREE, paid for mostly by advertisers who are on those stations only because they are the loudest radio stations or the only stations in their areas. often they are bundled onto those stations by ad agencies giving them discounts for loss of that control.
only talk radio (see fakenewsradio) can do the unchallenged repetition yet we don't even poll for it. the radio problem is unique and uniquely ignored. fox is completely dependent on it yet gets all the attention. the dem party, it's affiliated and progressive orgs, waste our donated time and money getting beaten by a few hundred coordinated ignorant racist unchallenged liars on 1500 radio stations.
is shouting HOAX! in a covid theater legal? is denying global warming still legal?
what to do?
republican politicians and media are heavily dependent on rw radio
limbagh may croak soon from stage 4 lung, and the whole thing was built around him. the ad industry is going to be very sensitive to any boycott action/activism aimed at talk radio.
artificial intelligence-enhanced transcription makes it exponentially easier to list advertisers and contact info without listening to the radio that aa couple of years ago to amp up any activism.
and we let 87+ universities support 260 limbaugh stations!
if you know anyone in 'leadership', tell them to pull their earbuds out of their asses
