(10,162 posts)I pre-ordered Earth Day, bought County and State Fair commemorative, and the Halloween looking ones. We already have the WWI packet and they are really cool!

(12,209 posts)I bought the spooky stamps they have.
I posted it on all my social media (I'm sure my right-wing fans are going to freak, but IDGAF).
It's a brilliant idea!

(20,215 posts)I am fond of stamps even if I don't use them.
My dad was a hobby collector and I still have a bunch to look at eventually.
I have sheets saved from 20 years ago.
I plain ole simply like them. 🆗️

(9,637 posts)Maybe an elderly neighbor who can't get to the post office to buy stamps. Those folks tend to be the ones who still use stamps instead of paying bills online. So not only can you keep the post office going, you can help neighbors and friends at the same time. Just a thought.

(1,944 posts)I have seen the Transcontinental Railroad set framed and it was gorgeous. (not the one offered on the USPS site.) Because the stamps have a shiny gold print on parts it looks really elegant. I ordered that set to frame for myself. And the Halloween set.

I really hope the Democrats do not allow a second financial stimulus to happen unless insuring that they have sufficient funds to operate, and funding for mail in ballots to the states is included
If the repukes refuse, then they will be responsible for making the economic situation much worse
Both the postal service and the capability for mail order ballots are essential because of the health crisis

And the forever stamps make them a good investment!)

(7,408 posts)Ever since I was a child, I enjoyed going to the post office. I liked seeing different people than my parents' circle of friends and always got this nearly indescribable warm feeling from watching something which seemed to signify the success of a nation doing something together. Don't know why or how i picked up on that at such a tender age but it is a clear memory.
Into adulthood, that remained. I never knew who I would bump into or the stories you would hear or glimpse from other Americans in a place that seemed oddly egalitarian. Especially during the holidays when people were sending packages that actually contained their sentiments for loved ones.
In these unsure days, I can't venture into the post office until a COVID-19 vaccine is perfected. Getting stamps online doesn't match the experience but it can hopefully keep alive the possibility of returning soon enough.

(14,522 posts)Make great gifts.
Last Xmas I bought my kids each a sheet of stamps for their stockings. Yes, even though they're adulting now, I still make fill their stockings.
The USPS made that easy. They have such a variety that you can personalize them to their interests.

(4,984 posts)but since the COVID work from home mandate, I have been the one goinf to the mail box. I have received 1 and only 1 piece of non-junk mail. Everything else? Recycle bin.
This makes me stop and think for a sec. If my experience is the same as many Americans, do we really need Monday thru Saturday delivery?

(23,321 posts)... They charge for shipping. They're the freakin' postal service, they could'a sent the stamp without postage!

(4,448 posts)If you just buy them, they money is allocated to reserves for future expenses and isn't able to be used for current expenses.
It's similar to how USPS has massive reserves for retirees for the next 75 years. Tons of money but unable to use it.
Buy them. Use them. Then USPS earns the money immediately instead of far into the future.
