When what were common European diseases wiped out nearly 90% of the populations of two continents. One virus wouldn't have done it, but there were a half dozen or more that the Native Americans had never been exposed to - just as humans have never been exposed to Corvid-19.

With multiple diseases striking populations with zero immunity, the Native Americans never had a chance. The Spanish conquistadors didn't conquer them, neither did the French, English or Portuguese settlers. The diseases destroyed their cultures, and decimated their populations, wave after wave of diseases that each killed significant portions of their people with each wave.

The Plains Indians were survivors who had built new ways of life and whose numbers had increased in the two hundred years since their ancestors had seen so much death - that's why they were strong enough to fight back. But they were still affected by germ warfare - small pox laden blankets.

I don't know why or how anyone can be amazed that "something as small as a germ" can change human history. Hopefully, this will, between reducing the human population and by demonstrating the effect of pollution during this quarantine, help the survivors re-route the future of the world.

And allowed the downtrodden surfs to flee to lords offering better conditions. Gave them some skin in the game. Responsible for the yeoman farmers and soldiers that allowed England to become powerful.

Lord help us if it takes us losing 1/3 of the population to bring back a Democracy based on the people!

Ok. Being somewhat sarcastic. But the ramifications the Black Death lasted hundred of years. Maybe still reverberating. History is funny that way.

The goddam 40 years of Republican "trickle down" did. The virus just tipped us over the edge. Any sane country would have a social/economic safety net, and health care, and leadership that wasn't only interested in the bottom line.

The virus.... when/if we get over it... MAY snap us out of this bullshit.

It really is outrageous and the icing is this delay due to testing company (OSCAR) not "ready" to $ grub, so passed on W.H.O. available tests?

I am sure the families of the dead will just all take it lying down?
